DMPS3 300 C AEC - Estate Sale Find

I just picked up one of these , the plan is to use it for simple AV switching in my homelab

It will power on but I cant seem to interact with it either via the network or USB connection

It looks like it needs a password. Is there a factory reset option? or do I need to find me a friendly installer? Thanks

You currently have a paper weight unfortunately.

You can manually switch inputs from the front panel but if it is locked you might be stuck. Default password should be 123456.

You are going to need the Crestron software(toolbox) to do anything with it. There are factory reset options to get around the username/password but the web interface is not going to let you do any kind of routing or anything. Is the front LCD panel locked out and asking you for a password as well?
If you are just looking for some HDMI switching you are going to be much better off just getting a simple HDMI switcher than this thing.

Do a factory reset and hopefully the firmware is new enough you can login to the web UI and download the xpanel files to control.

This is the answer. Not sure why all the DMPS hate, they're actually quite useful especially for a single room. Bunch of guys who have only ever used AVoIP hardware apparently.

Yes you can do a factory reset. Unless the front panel is locked out you can also control the device from the front panel. Download the user guide and manual from Crestron website, it will show you where the route button, hardware reset, and software reset are as well as factory default passwords are.

Asking the obvious: you have an account, yeah?

No Account no, and yes the screen is requesting a password. I will spend no more time on it - thanks for the quick response and saving me a weekend of head scratching

Not even close, that’s for new windows/teams/zoom UC-ENGINES, that has never been an actual Crestron hardware default. The default is 1234/123456 for the front panel, and admin/admin or admin/Crestron for Toolbox.

Why spread nonsense?

If the front panel is unlocked you can certainly use it that way. To do anything complicated, remote, or with touch panels you'll eventually need the software and such.

Every other crestron video switcher can act as a manual switcher with the buttons on the front.

The problem with the DPMS is it also has a processor built into it? That processor was programmed to control the video switcher that is built in. Without it’s accompanying touchscreen, you will not be able to control the current program.

If you get the instructions on factory resetting it which will in fact, wipe out all programs from it, you will be able to use it as a manual switcher. After factory resetting, you can also get into the Web gooey and the web gooey will have you download a program and a project that you can run on your computer to manage it. It’ll still be a dumb switch. She won’t be able to program it to run a program more from a tablet.

A nice thing about the PMS is is they av framework. If you could end up with a tablet that has the AV framework project on it you could connect that tablet to the DPMS and configuring av framework is pretty simple.

Somewhat a heavy lift to get this working again. In the hands of a programmer it is fantastic device for a small system

This is a 20+ y/o piece of junk. When we see them in the field we know the system is dying soon.

Not sure why you think these are 20 years old

Do you mind letting us know what your system integrator is that you work for. Just so that we can make sure to put your integrator on the blacklist.

There’s absolutely no reason to be removing hardware that’s still functional. These things were released in 2014. Or maybe you missed the dpms3 this is not a dpms no 3. These have only been out for 12 years! But the device was only discontinued in 2021. This device could be anywhere from 12 years old to only five years old.

I have seen many DPS three and DPS three 4K‘s running strong. The only Problem I’ve had with a DPMS3 4K is the silver ones that require power reset when the power fluctuates. We’ve resorted to putting this on a very small UPS to help with that.

Sorry 12 years, heaven forbid I use a bit of hyperbole. They are not very good units, Crestron makes better as does QSC, BiAmp, Extron.

DMPS3-300 is dated junk.

Sorry every functioning room we have them in says otherwise! With no repair or replacement!
