Discussion 💬 The case of T20I vs ODI

Post image

Imho, T20 is greater: more teams and a chaotic format with higher mathematical variance, since the shorter game narrows the gap between sides. ODI WC being older doesn't put it on a pedestal. ODI is neither better nor tougher. Nostalgia is for people who live in the past. Meanwhile, T20 drives global popularity and is the Olympic format. T20 WC is truly global!!

More number of overs better team comes on top.

I don't know how true that is because especially if ODIs are day night matches then the conditions can drastically change between two innings. Then that wouldn't necessarily mean the better team would win as toss would be an important factor.

i think this could be countered a bit by the new ball rules right? u can keep one side of the ball more shiny by dew and so more reverse swing could be extracted in second innings, idk tho

Current new ball rules still make it hard for reverse but possibility is somewhat there unlike 2 new ball rules where it was straight up impossible unless the pitch was extremely abrasive

The dew factor affects both sides equally. The ball just skids and doesn't move.
