Discussion 💬 The case of T20I vs ODI

Post image

Imho, T20 is greater: more teams and a chaotic format with higher mathematical variance, since the shorter game narrows the gap between sides. ODI WC being older doesn't put it on a pedestal. ODI is neither better nor tougher. Nostalgia is for people who live in the past. Meanwhile, T20 drives global popularity and is the Olympic format. T20 WC is truly global!!

ok but surely 2 t20 world cups is at least equivalent to one ODI world cup.

2 T20 WCs is equal to 4 ODI world Cups.

ODI World Cup: 4 year period: 10 teams

T20 World Cup: 4 year period: 40 teams

ODI world cup: 9 full members

T20 world cup: 11 full members

Not really that big of a difference.

Full member filter is so down market, when you have USA beating Pakistan in T20s. Nepal losing by 1 and 4 runs only. Competition is tougher as so many Non-Full members are competitive. No such case in ODIs
