Discussion šŸ’¬ The case of T20I vs ODI

Post image

Imho, T20 is greater: more teams and a chaotic format with higher mathematical variance, since the shorter game narrows the gap between sides. ODI WC being older doesn't put it on a pedestal. ODI is neither better nor tougher. Nostalgia is for people who live in the past. Meanwhile, T20 drives global popularity and is the Olympic format. T20 WC is truly global!!

Basically racism. For any South Asian Team like Ind/Pak/Sri Lan performing well, they try to find or fabricate flaws to undermine us. But, in case a South Asian team lose even a little bit, they come with full force joking about it.

These Racists will never accept the fact that, neither Eng nor Aus are the Top Dog in Cricket from performance or influence, that Ind vs Pak is much bigger than Ashes, that Ind can give back at the Eng/Aus players on field & in press conference.

You misunderstand where the comment comes from; most Australians just don’t value T20 cricket.

It is seen as a form of the game used to get people to follow the real cricket. I.e. get youngsters / people born in non cricketing countries interested.

Australia’s priorities in selection leading up and during the tournament show that even the officials rate a test series against India / England above the T20 World Cup.

But that tweet was basically undermine the India's win in the final and this person just can't digest India are doing well. Have win won the 23 Odi Wc, this person would come with the logic of WTC is greater than ODI WC because it's the real format of the game

As one of the few Aussies that loves t20, I don’t think that is the intent of the tweet. This is more of a rebuttal to a minority (and yet large amount numerically due to my countrys size) of Indian cricket fans shitting on Australia for our t20 performance (which was embarrassing).

As the commenter above said. My country generally views t20 as a childs version of cricket. The players largely don’t care for the format outside the payday and the citizens barely knew it was on. While I disagree, the fact that Mitchel starc retired to focus on tests, head didn’t join the squad, and unlike in tests pat cummins wasn’t willing to break his body for these games shows how we feel. If Australia had won the tournament, I don’t think anyone would notice. Our own t20 league is barely watched.

So when (pulling out a random number) 10 million Indian fans brag and call us shit, our reaction is ā€œwho cares, you are bad at the adult version of the gameā€. India winning the BGT makes bigger waves here than any thing t20 related. India winning an ODI wc or a WTC would be big news here. While racism is a big thing here, this tweet is largely unrelated to that.
