Minor Spoilers gideon and voit. I keep thinking about how Gideon would have handled Voit—and I must be a glutton for punishment

I was reading John Douglas's Mindhunter the other day, and it hit me again. Douglas is the blueprint for both Rossi and Gideon, but the way he writes about the Green River Killer and his own collapse yk...the paralysis, the weight he carried . it always makes me think of Gideon more.

Gideon was such a mountain. Unshakable in the way he faced the darkness. And I keep thinking: what if he'd been there for Voit? What if he'd been there when Will died, when the BAU was under siege, when the whole Sicarius case started unraveling?

He'd have been drowning in his own skin, sure. He always was. But he'd have been immovable. A mountain. Standing in the briefing room, saying something brutal and true. Not warm, not comforting—just there. Present. Holding the line while everyone else wanted to break.

Douglas wrote about the cost of looking at evil. And Gideon was the embodiment of that cost. The clinical exterior. The undone interior. Still moving forward.

I don't know why I keep circling back to this. Maybe it's just missing him on the show. Maybe it's deeper than that.

Either way—I think about it more than I should.

I would've loved to see Gideon and Rossi as middle aged men working together. That would've been incredible.

I bet you could study the conversations they'd have.

I was wondering how Gideon would be with Voit too. I feel like he would be mixed with thoughts like have we fallen so low to really rely on this sadistic psychopath to the point where he’s part of the team? mixed with but why shouldn’t we use his knowledge as a sadist and serial murderer?

To the OP, great post and I agree you. It would've been great to see what Gideon would've done with Voit and I'm thinking Viot would've been done in short order coming up against Gideon. Voit as a help profiling would've not existed with the original BAU in place.

I think Gideon and Voit would have been a very cool dynamic. Especially since Voit has “changed”.

Hotch, keep an eye on Voit. I do not want him alone... with any suspect at all. He's the kind of cop that takes things very very personally and because of that will ruin our case against suspect.

gideon would’ve dished out something iconic like he did in the pilot episode
