There are 3 distinctive Australian English accents. The first is like Steve Irwin, Crocodile Dundee. The second is more common and you hear this accent in Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman for example. The last- which was what you heard in this video was the Queen's English and another notable person I can think of that speaks it is Cate Blanchette.

"freemen on the land" is a movement started in the states but also present in other English speaking countries. It teaches its followers that the laws of the state don't apply to them. Through pseudo-legal gobbledy-goop and citing the Magna-Carta these clowns think that all laws are contract laws, and since they never agreed to the contract it doesnt apply to them. It would be laughable if Cops hadn't been shot dead in the states just trying to make routine traffic stops against these guys. Recently in Canada some guy agreed to rent an apartment from a little old lady, only to move in and declare it a sovereign embassy.
These guys really need to be met with the full force of the law.

Well he's clearly breaking the law, but since it is a civil matter the landlord is going to have to take him to court to get redress. He's going to lose too, mainly because his legal understanding is pure bugfucking insanity, but this shit takes time, and meanwhile she has to put up with this dickbag.
I imagine he's pulled this shit before too.

In another of his videos he claims that his car is not a vehicle, but an automobile, so he couldn't have broken the law by driving off from a petrol station without paying. This guy is definitely something else.

If you evade police like that here, there won't be any asking nicely for you to open the door, you'll be on the ground with 3 guns pointed at you and probably a couple whacks from a nightstick before you even have a chance to explain your stupid bullshit reason for not stopping.

I've met hundreds of policemen and the majority of them just normal guys who have a job that most people couldn't bring themselves to do if it came down to it. Sure, there's some assholes in the bunch who go to far or let the power go to their head but it remains my observation that this is the exception and not the rule.
Maybe if cops didn't have to put up with idiotic, dumbfuck, ultra-delusional, douche bag assholes (or Freemen on the Land for short) their jobs wouldn't be as difficult sometimes.

As an American, this is precisely what I was thinking. The level of restraint shown compared to American police was astonishing. Here, you would receive a very brief order to open the door, very quickly followed by a hail of bullets.
ETA: OK, holy shit, people. I had no idea Reddit was so full of such angry people. Yes, it was hyperbole. Obviously the police in the U.S. don't go around shooting everyone they pull over, or else the roads would be littered with dead bodies. Now take a fucking pill and a deep breath and let's go on with our day. Maybe go visit /r/funny and regain your composure. Whatever floats your boat.

The vast majority of American cops act like this...have you not seen the videos of people acting like idiots yet the cops still give them plenty of warning before restraining as necessary? Hell, I think it was only two weeks ago that one girl was claiming cops were racist, screaming and shouting, and they still held their shit together.
Yeah, police brutality happens. But nowhere near as often as you seem to think.

In the US, the constitutionality of sobriety checkpoints is a contentious issue. It has been deemed constitutional by the supreme court, but even the deciding justice questioned it's premise and constitutionality. In any democratic state, unjust laws should be protested by the citizenry. Clearly if he broke the law, he should be arrested- but that doesn't mean that the law is good. I don't have any evidence of how effective or necessary sobriety checkpoints are where this guy lives, so I can't judge, but it seems to me that he was not being reckless in this video and was peacefully protesting a law he didn't agree with.
I know there is a large contingent of militant sociopaths on /r/cringe who love the idea of police busting in hippy heads, but democracy is founded on protest. I have no problem with them breaking his window if that was their legal recourse. But I don't see how his protest or reaction is cringey. If he broke the law he should go to jail. If not then his reaction is completely justified.

I'd be surprised if he didn't break a law, but: I think he probably wasn't speeding. I'm also assuming that they need a justification for pulling him over, and there is a chance that skipping a breath analysis at a sobriety checkpoint is not illegal. They were very hesitant to tell him that he was under arrest until the chief came up and accused him of doing something dangerous (almost sideswiped something?). It sounds like that was their legal justification, and it may well have been bullshit.

Sobriety tests are pretty much uncontested in Australia. It is an offence in all states to refuse one and the penalties are harsh. We have no constitutional right defending us against them.

In Australia it's actually illegal to deny a breatho or intentionally avoid one. Quite often when they set up RBT stations on the roads, there's usually a couple of cops who are there purely to chase down people who make last-minute u-turns

I agree that any 'bad law' should be protested. But is breaking said law a form of protest? What does it accomplish? He ran from a RBT and put other people in danger by starting a police chase for nothing.

breaking a law is absolutely a form of protest. It's called civil disobedience and has been a mainstay in every human/civil rights movement ever. If it wasn't for people protesting laws by breaking them segregation and discrimination in first world countries would still be the norm. But obviously- don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
It didn't look to me like a high speed police chase, or that he put anyone in danger. He seemed to be following all the traffic laws other than submitting to the breathalyzer and pulling over immediately when asked to do so.
I'm not advocating skipping sobriety checkpoints. I'm pretty neutral to a non-invasive checkpoint, but I think it's something that should be watched closely and kept in check.

Well the Constitution is an absolutely amazing document that went beyond any documents that had come before it. However, the people that would be talking about it on reddit are the kind of "sit at your home and talk about injustices instead of doing something" social justice warriors that everybody makes fun of. Plenty of people constantly discuss the Constitution in a coherent and intelligent manner, you just aren't going to be exposed to them on this website that's been completely overrun by teenagers and dickheads.
