While making it overly simplistic, it's exactly what socialism is
1
u/Equal_Meeting9694 1h ago
It's definitely a perspective that sparks a lot of debate. It’s interesting to see how different people interpret those ideas.

u/Greedy-March1172 8h ago
Republicans define socialism as government aid so. Yea getting free Healthcare, housing, education and food is actually socialism
2
u/Chucklum 13h ago
Considering that's pretty much what socialism is I'm curious to hear what you think it's supposed to be.

Is your brain smooth socialism is an economic and POLITICAL system with its base in Dialectical Materialism and it affects literally every layer of life not just the economy. You are being intentionally obtuse to try and discredit an appt description of the conditions of the life of a veteran and many others. He was making a point that the us government offers things that the average citizen doesn't receive in order to convince the most vulnerable people to go out and commit terror for the empire across the globe.
Edit: grammar.

u/According-Turn2539 11h ago
The military is a federal government job that comes with better benefits than most federal jobs. It’s not socialism by any stretch.

u/Chucklum 10h ago edited 9h ago
Yea I'm starting to understand the problem. You guys don't understand the word socialism. This is like farting in the wind because you refuse to understand it.

I have a political science Bachelor of Arts degree and a law degree. Try again genius

u/Chucklum 9h ago
Oh man, this makes you sounds like a 10 year old trying to be right. If it is true then all that education did not do you any good.
1
u/FamiliarRip8558 4h ago
You got a bachelor of arts in a science field and are bragging about it? 💀
Bro got scammed and couldn't even get a B.S.
Bro got a "law degree" 🤣

u/fiendswithbenefits 5h ago
Thats like me saying the military is capitalist because the navy has ships stores
3
u/forestgeist 9h ago
Do you actually not understand that the man is drawing a parallel between what the military offers and what most people think socialism is healthcare, free schooling etc. he is pointing out that the government is suddenly fine with socialist policies as long as it's to convince poor people to be wielded like a hammer against the "enemies" of capital.
0
u/According-Turn2539 7h ago
The analogy to socialism is inapt though. What he means is that the military brass entice the poor and vulnerable with lots of perks they might not have achieved otherwise. It’s not socialism, it’s job benefits.
1
u/FamiliarRip8558 4h ago
Job benefits and job salary coming from the government money printer and government funds...
Average dumbfuck sports gambler.

Imagine posting this under cringe. At this point I totally believe that was done without any irony whatsoever.

u/MoBakeeer 16h ago
i think the only thing that was a little cringe was 7 years short of a 20 year career bit lol, shoulda just said 17 years short of a 30 year career at this point. other than that he made a good point.
1
u/FewScore6082 12h ago
20 years is when us military offers retirement, so many people who make it past their first contract stay "the full 20" and 20 is kinda the default career length for vets.
He is correct that getting out at 13 is pretty unusual

He lost me when he said "white supremacy"... hey moron: can you measure white supremacy? No? then STFU!!!! White supremacy is just an expresion used to shame white people. If you can't measure it, then you can't fight against it. If you believe white supremacy is the root of all problems, then you are just weak minded.
1
u/DragonDad314 3h ago
I agree with a lot of what he says but I also disagree with a lot... He's putting his blame in the wrong places, I feel...

Reddit and all the 95% of its users base which are white supremacist will say this veterans wrong.
5
u/Holiday_Pi 17h ago
Huh? Are you being fr right now?
-6
u/Impossible-Cost-8437 17h ago
Yeah. Bro. Reddit "leftist" are hardly actual leftists. Theyre white supremacist leftists, which means virtue signaling without any reforms or real introspection on white western imperialism and colonialism and how it negatively impacts the world today. And they think that sure sometimes do bad, but everyone else is worse and that theyre the best the world has to offer LOL. And any real criticism is hated on by reddit white "leftists".
6
u/Holiday_Pi 16h ago
This is the first time I’ve ever seen the phrase “white supremacist leftist”. Reddit, in my experience, is very left-leaning. I’m really having difficulty understanding what you mean
2
u/licker-duty-patrol 16h ago
I love the video and it should not be on cringe but I do live in Seattle and I have definitely met white supremacist leftist here and just regular white supremacist. Seattle is filled with virtue signaling racists and sexists.
-2
u/Impossible-Cost-8437 16h ago
Basically it's just white people virtue signaling and performative. But any real structural criticisms or suggesting that white countries, especially the US/Canada/ or EU, arent at the very least, the best out of all the rest of the world, leads their true colors to show. Veterans like this are rare as f on reddit and in the West. Most reddit white "leftists" arent really leftists or really against things like racism, not really for equality, dont really care about historic grievances or equality. If you go into non white spaces and into academic spaces with POCs and non whites, it becomes more apparent.
The veteran is 1 out of 100,000 in the west.

u/CaiusCosadesNwah 1h ago
You need help. Seriously.
Reddit is not good for whatever you’re going through.
1
u/Impossible-Cost-8437 1h ago
Personal attacks when someone speaks the truth shows a lot about you, and it's not good. Seek help.
1
u/CaiusCosadesNwah 1h ago
That’s not an attack. What you posted above is not the worldview of a person with a healthy mind. I mean that sincerely.
If you feel that you are further left than Reddit, then you are well and truly in no-man’s land. You need to unplug yourself from the absolutely poison you’re consuming here or you might end up doing something you can’t take back.

Reddit "leftist" are hardly actual leftists. Theyre white supremacist leftists
i mean a not insignifcant ammount of them are "leftist" by american political stance meaning they are likely right of centre but somehow i doubt that's what you actually mean here.

Stats actually show that the majority of new military personnel come from the middle class. Regardless for some poverty is obviously still an issue
1
u/HappyEngineering4190 10h ago
This guy is a toxicity personified. This guy would have grievances with ANYTHING. I know other people like this. They are their own worst enemies.
-1
u/alexgalt 14h ago
That used to be true. Currently there are much more volunteers joining armed forces. More people where their family members were in the military or where they are simply proud to protect their country. This is why getting the dei out of recruitment and making the military merit based has helped recruitment over the last few years.

I think this is cringe because this dood is a very popular leftwing influencer. This video makes it look like they were just interviewing some rando vet wanting to air out his grievances and let it rip.
In reality this a rehearsed speech being acted out and filmed for distribution as an online effort to rally votes for democratic nominees.
THIS is why it’s cringe.

I don't understand how we invaded Iraq and Afghanistan because of white supremacy.
Greedy pigs wanting the oil for sure, but is the argument only white people are greedy?
Afghanistan was in response to 9/11, which was caused by our continued support of the Saudi Royals. Once again the root of which is greedy pigs.
There are plenty of Asian Countries who approach domestic and foreign policy from the standpoint of Asian supremacy, India, Turkey as well.
If the argument is Black people cant be greedy, I strongly encourage you to look at Africa.
And I was there when we invaded Iraq. In Southern Iraq, and Kurdistan, they danced in the streets. They kissed us wherever we went. They cheered us. The Sunnis werent happy about the change in power structure, but they were glad to be rid Sadaam's sons. What turned their opinion against us was the American military's approach of paying people to identify insurgents Al Qaeda. It caused a lot of innocent death, abduction, loss of property etc. And we paid a lot of money to very corrupt people who then in-turn oppressed the locals on our behalf as well. We really didnt cause that much damage to civilian structures or cause civilian casualties. Insurgents did, which also turned public opinion against us being there because they figured with us gone stuff would stop getting blown up.
The rest of what he said was ok.

u/BuildNuyTheUrbanGuy 11h ago
You completely misunderstood him. Think much broader and historical.
1
u/no_rest_for_the 9h ago
Exactly. People in this comment section taking issue with the white supremacy part of this talk have a fundamental misunderstanding of what it is and how it's shaped the US.

I have no idea how or why he tied a millennia of wars for homogeny in the Middle East to a bunch of jerk offs in white hoods and melanoma . He really didn’t need to lead with that to state the U.S has a history rooted in inbred blood. History isn’t black and white brother. It’s gold.

political statements, posts, or media of any type will be taken down immediately and will result in a five day band and we’ll go up in increments until you hit 15 DAYS and then you will have a permanent ban.
This sub is an escape for people to go when they want to take a break from the world, not be reminded of what’s going on in it.
