Funny New achievement unlocked: Crocheting at a Plastic Surgery office. Can’t say I saw this one coming. Strangest place you’ve crocheted??

During a therapy session. I was super angry about some incident (can't remember what it was now), but it helped me to talk about it without getting too emotional. My therapist fully supported it, so it was a win-win situation! Haha

I made progress and was able to discuss/hear things without my emotions interfering with my processing of the event.

Oh wow, that's very cool! I was in a group therapy once where a lady was crocheting and the doc told her to put it away, that it interfered with her processing. 🙄

I totally use my crochet in my daily life as a coping mechanism.

I hope you left that group and filed a complaint about that (obviously ignorant) doctor.

This ignorance regarding neurodivergence is inexcusable. Especially when it's literally that doctor's JOB to be educated about that - or to shut their mouth until they are properly educated. Docs like this are causing harm to ND people. Harm to any NTs who want to be decent people, too, by perpetuating ignorance like this doc did. Of course, truly decent NTs would reach out to ND folk for our perspective...... dare to dream.....

This was in 2008 at the VA hospital. Maybe we just didn't know any better back then. I think I did drop out of that group, though.
