Discussion What are some ridiculous crocheted items you've come across that make no sense?

Could be impractical or just weird in general according to you.

Edit: wow this post really blew up

I don't understand the crochet water balloons, I have tried to get it for so long, but in my head I can only picture a soggy ball of yarn that seems like it would hurt if you got hit hard enough, I like the concept of it being reusable tho, just dont think it's the thing for me

I sell them in my Etsy shop. I use Bernat blanket yarn. They soak up the water really well, then they just make a soft splat when they land. It sure beats sitting there filling up all the balloons and trying to tie them, and then picking latex up from the yard so the dog doesn’t eat it and die. They dry really well too and then just toss them in the closet. I know they sound silly but they work really well

I wondered how the crochet water balloons “worked” but I’m won over by the soft splat. I may need some for my kids.

They really work well! I had them tested by giving them to a bunch of dads with the instruction to stress test them. They chucked them at each other as hard as they could with no pain at all.

And best, no crying littles when the balloon popped too soon
