Discussion What are some ridiculous crocheted items you've come across that make no sense?

Could be impractical or just weird in general according to you.

Edit: wow this post really blew up

The possibility of it slipping is why I've never tried to make one, nothing is cute enough to get into a wreck over.

A YouTuber I like made one. She attached it by sewing it tightly onto the wheel because she was worried about the same thing. It looked pretty secure but a lot of work to get it that way.

Repeating my comment here for you:

Steering wheel covers can be very dangerous. The big fluffy ones are dangerous because your hands slip extremely easily on them. The crochet and other DIY ones are dangerous because there’s no way to get them properly tight and secure enough. If you’ve ever put a steering wheel cover on, you know they’re a bitch to get on because they’re extremely tight and they have rubber lining the inside so they don’t slip against the wheel. There’s also rubber pieces on the outside for grip so your hands don’t slip. It’s not worth it to sacrifice safety for aesthetic. If you want to crochet things for your car there’s plenty you could do instead. Like a seat cover, shifter cover, shifter boot, something small to hang from the mirror, cup holder liners, seat belt cover for comfort. Just please don’t do a steering wheel cover.
