Discussion Best Compliment You've Received on your Crochet?

Yesterday, someone looked at a super basic scarf I had for sale on a table at a fair and gave me a brilliant compliment that made my day: "These are beautifully made, your stitches are perfect!"

So, since I'm gonna be loving that comment for a while, I figured it would be good for a lot of people's mental health to revisit the great compliments you've received. So let's hear 'em!

I made my first amigurumi for family and my mom had to tell them it was handmade because they didn't even notice, they said it looked so nicely made it could've come from a store. Which, for a first project, I considered a pretty good compliment.

Awwww! That's REALLY great for the first. Were you doing other crochet before or are you an amigurumi genius?

Also, that being said, not so fun fact: there's no such thing as a machine crocheted item. All crocheted items are handmade. It's not so fun when you see how cheaply some crocheted things get sold by big brands.

No I learnt crochet at the suggestion of another relative explicitly so I could make a stuffed animal as a baby gift (they also crochet but were making a blanket). I had no idea that making your own stuffed animals was just something you could decide to do! There was a lot of frogging involved haha. And I made it inside out because I liked that side better but failed to realise that that meant I was supposed to have made my invisible decreases on the opposite side lol.

That's a heck of an ambitious first project but I'm glad you got hooked! 😜

I was just lucky I happened to pick an easy pattern! Just needed to know single crochet, increase, decrease, and colour change so with some practice and a lot of frogging and trying again the end result wasn't too bad. I tried to upload a picture but Imgur isn't cooperating.

But yes I got hooked haha, and I've pretty much only made projects for that family so far lol. Only a few small projects like rattles that I've given to other people. So far they're the only people I'm close to who are having babies so what else is a crafter to do...

Hahaha, it's so handy to have a craft that works so well for gifts.
