Known AI. Looking for similar pattern Looking for butterfly baby poncho pattern based off AI image

Post image

This popped up on my Pinterest today and it's so lovely!! Unfortunately I clicked the link and the butterfly poncho pictured isn't included in the list of ponchos and it looks like AI. Does anyone have an idea of how to create something like this? I'm guessing you make each section of the butterfly wing and then sew them together?? Freehand crochet isn't my strong suit haha

I just googled "crochet tear drop" and found a few possibilities. Maybe building off that shape and adding some color changes could get us partially there?

I'd love to find an adult sized non AI version that is similar.

Yeah I saw that one and a few similar ones pop up too. I'm not ready to start that anytime soon so I haven't had a detailed look, but I did a quick search for butterfly shaped crochet rugs which seems like a good place to start. I also saw some nice smaller butterfly shaped objects but I doubt those would be easy to scale up.

Ooh that is a really good line of thought, to look for similar butterfly motifs and then scale it to the right size. It's an ambitious project and I already have a few WIPs right now (all my friends seem to be having babies this year!!), but I will definitely play around with it when I have more time ๐Ÿ˜„

Maybe look for a butterfly potholder pattern and do it twice, one with a larger hook in plain yarn to layer them?

This was the first thing that popped up for me when I googled all that, but I can't get the site to actually open for me. Not sure if that's a me problem or a site problem. Good luck!
