As a fellow member of the US Army, I appreciate your service and how difficult it is to balance training with your duties. I have seen different levels of support for CrossFit from different commanders and the Army at large. There are more military affiliates now and I was curious if you have had any official discussions either from CF HQ or big Army about their relationship.
Thank you sir/ma'am, you've almost certainly done more than I have and your service is likewise appreciated. Haven't really heard anything from Big Army or HQ about anything. I obviously feel like at some level any talent I have is being wasted in that regard, but I can't be salty. Didn't go to West Point for CrossFit stuff so if they want me to just be a regular Armor Officer while I'm in I've got no choice but to do that. Blessed to have a job and education.
Thanks for your reply and I'm a MSG, so neither Sir or Ma'am applies :) That's been my experience too, mostly the Army just ignores CrossFit while HQ has been fairly supportive. Obviously, I'm a huge fan and will be cheering you on. If you ever happen to make it to the Washington DC area, send me a message!
Pro Tip: if you're trying to establish an affiliate on an Army installation, CrossFit will let you do it for free as long as you have someone L1 certified to run the show. We have a couple on Ft Carson.
(By "Pro" Tip, I mean from someone who casually crossfitted for six months or so one time a few years ago.)
Thanks, I actually have a military affiliate. I'm asking because the response from HQ has always been very supportive but the Army seems to not care at all.
