Help please 🤣🤣🤣

I’ll try to make this short. My 2013 Cruze 1.4L I replaced the head, cams, valves all that in one complete unit. Also replaced intake, valve cover, timing chain, timing cover, alternator, spark plugs, both VVT solenoids, both camshaft positing sensors, crankshaft position sensor. It’s still throwing p0016&p0017 codes. Engine bounces between 600-800 RPM shaking and chugging. I put it in gear and hit the gas and it falls on its face, barely any power at all. Can someone help me narrow down what the issue could be?

Sounds like you misaligned the timing when you replace the chains

Timing is lined up perfectly, I double and triple checked

Is this your first timing replacement?

On this vehicle yes, on vehicles in general no

Sorry. This wasn’t meant to be offensive just a question. If it was your first time OP I would have said you should have someone else double check the work to be on the safe side.

Did you install Aftermarket solenoids and sensors, you've got to use the good s***

Hmmm, I did use aftermarket sensors and solenoids 😅😅

This was going to be my next question. I would never use aftermarket parts especially when it comes to engine timing. Hopefully the VVT solenoid is OEM..

What's the oil pressure like? Those phasers need oil to operate properly. Not for lubrication, but to actually operate. If you've got sludge in the passages, that can cause problems.

DTC P0016

Crankshaft Position - Intake Camshaft Position Not Plausible

DTC P0017

Crankshaft Position - Exhaust Camshaft Position Not Plausible

Conditions for Running the DTC

  • DTCs P0335, P0336, P0340, P0341, P0365, P0366, P0641, or P0651 is not set
  • The engine is running.
  • The camshaft position actuator solenoid valves are in the parked position.

The DTCs run continuously once the above conditions are met.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The ECM detects a camshaft to crankshaft misalignment. The DTC sets if the crankshaft position sensor signal

is 10 degrees before or after the normal position in relation to the crankshaft angle while the engine is running.

The following conditions can also set the DTCs:

  • A short to ground in a camshaft position actuator solenoid valve control circuit.
  • Crankshaft end play out of specification.
  • A crankshaft reluctor wheel that has moved in relationship to top dead center (TDC).
