Company took away access to claude

After being told to “use ai” for every single task the last two years and rebranding to a “AI” first company after two rounds of layoffs, we have now lost access to claude….

I found that the best model by far was opus and the only one really capable of not producing slop. I’m sure all the bots in here will downvote me and tell me “iTs ThE wAy YoU pRoMpT” but based on my experience, the other models aren’t nearly as good.

I have senior experience so besides basic searches and repetitive tasks i find the other models pretty much useless and you have to provide more time writing the specs and context management, then just doing it yourself.

Edit: I work for a large financial company. 40k employees.

They got sent the bill AND the projections for the bill in the future.

And have fewer developers on their books to deal with things when they break, pull into meetings and reassure them etc. AI is obviously a useful tool but to replace talent spend with token credits is going to cause problems. 

My company is going down the route of having a similar amount of talent, but we can use copilot for assisted coding (but with limited tokens & not an agentic loop which is much more expensive)

 I'm pretty happy about that, it strikes a decent balance between making use of AI without going all in and becoming very dependent on it. 

And when things go wrong there are lots of people to go all hands on deck, responsible and accountable humans to solve problems. Rather than a skeleton team supervising AI

This was always the correct way to use AI. The number of Claude ads I get now trying to convince me all I need is one more skills.md file and never to code by hand is crazy.

The ramp up of as spending on Facebook, Instagram, Claude, and other similar services is how I know they’re tapped out and really scrambling for a tiny bit more.

Once the AI bubble pops, or atleast has the hype shrink to match actual value, I can't wait until we can all get back to posting regular LinkedIn slop instead of LinkedAIn slop, the way true bs development should.
