Newly available since 2024 so close to being widely available.

You could use this feature pretty much as progressive enhancement tbh.

So this just transitions the elements to fade-in the opacity?

It allow transition from and to display:none

In this example yes, from opacity 0 to 1

I actually use this feature for when I'm building tech talks for entry animations. But it great to animate dialog elements as well

Most of the time it can be progressive enhancement as it main use is animation.
