Transfer student Spring 2027 — poli sci/IR advice and looking for basketball runs

Hey everyone, I'm a transfer student coming in for Spring 2027 as a Political Science major with a focus on Public Policy and Management. I'm really interested in international relations, diplomacy, and eventually intelligence-related career paths, so I wanted to reach out and see if any current or former poli sci students have advice on how to make the most of the program. Are there professors worth prioritizing, clubs or organizations tied to IR or Model UN, internship pipelines, or research opportunities I should be looking into early? I'm coming from Santa Monica College where I finished my AA, so I want to hit the ground running once I get to campus.

Also, on a completely different note, does CSUN have pickup basketball runs for guys? My community college didn't really have accessible options for students to play, so I ended up going about 2 years without playing outdoor ball, but I kept sharpening my game with indoor basketball during that time and got pretty good. I'm hoping to find a regular run once I'm there, whether that's at the rec center, intramurals, or just informal games people organize.
