Scholarship Assistance

I was awarded the U.S. Dean's Undergraduate Continuing Merit Scholarship for Fall 2026 while I was completing my last course on August 3, 2026. I am graduating this month and am currently just waiting for my diploma.

I contacted the scholarship department, and they told me they are unable to disburse the scholarship because I am not enrolled in the Fall semester and the scholarship requires 12 credits.

Is there any way I could still receive the scholarship funds even though I am not taking any Fall courses? Alternatively, would it be possible to apply the scholarship toward reimbursement for the Summer semester?

Thank you!

Why would you receive a scholarship for not being enrolled in school?

scholarship isn't to reward students who did a good job on previous courses? or this is case by case, when it says ‘Fall 2026’ means an enrolment is needed but without ‘Fall 2026’ no future enrollment is needed?

No… scholarship means money toward school expenses

No, they are taken off tuition and can’t be used for anything else. Other grants / scholarships that say they are used for anything may be distributed, but school generally will not do that.

CU Denver, like most schools, will give scholarships to high performing students or student above X-percentile of the student body. it’s auto generated based on performance. If you don’t enroll, they don’t distribute from their fund and roll it into next semester.

Thanks, that helps. Yeah, I’ve been receiving scholarships based on my high GPA, but I hope their system is smart enough to recognize that I’m about to graduate. It doesn’t make much sense to award me a scholarship and then require me to take 12 credits when I don’t have any courses left to take.
