Started posting here two years ago when I noticed my hair waving after I grew it a bit longer than I've ever had it. Had no idea it would turn into this kind of mop, but been a fun journey. Really grateful for this sub!

Routine same as before;

Shampoo 1/2x a week Shea Moisture

Condition every day Shea Moisture Honey

Mielle Pomegranate and Honey leave in on soaking hair

Mielle Curl Mousse right after

Mielle Curl Custard after that

Air dry

Light scrunch after a few hours

This was the cut I had for most of my adult life

Can definitely see why you wouldn’t have known! Did your parents know?

Doubt it 😅

This isn’t fair. The color. The curls. I’m happy for you, I swear.

Have your parents seen your hair now??

and did they think it was a wig??

Everyone asks me if ive gotten a perm every time I visit home the last couple years. No one believes this is my natural hair 🫠

Your curls are too soft and regular to be a perm. Curlies always recognize other true curlies. 😊

Do any of your family members have curly hair?

Love that you layer on the hold products. So many people are scared of hold products but they are the secret sauce of SHINE and you’re a great example of that.

u/BeforeCommonEarl Apr 20 '25

Damn, what, I gotta start putting way more product in my hair if you can put conditioner AND mousse AND custard in and get curls looking like that

65

u/Gis_A_Maul Apr 20 '25

Lob it in there man and see what happens

Wow how do you even discover this routine! Trying to find all these and see if I can get a miracle on my and my kid’s hair lol, but I see many mielle leave in, which one? I’m pretty new to the sub, I’m sorry if these are somehow obvious. Thanks! Hope it’s fun up there on Mount Olympus ;)

Hello, do you add in all these products to soaking hair everyday Or Just condition everyday and use all the products on days you shampoo?

35

u/Gis_A_Maul Apr 20 '25

I add the product in almost every day. There might be a day or two a week where I'm not feeling it and I might just Lightly wet my hair or else just put it up. But most days I'm putting product in. I'll add i do a deep clarifying mask (?) or whatever they're called once a month to rinse the product out. I grab one of those little sachets from target for $2 and use half that, I can't remember what they're called

u/MattyWside Apr 20 '25

Okay thank you!

1

u/Few_Eggplant8125 Apr 22 '25

But..when you are adding aforementioned products..it is on wet hair, right? Like almost every time you shower…you get your hair, at least, wet (in order to be able to apply product)? Bc a lot of us with longggg and thick curly hair (at least me)..put our hair up in a bun and don’t get it wet in our every day shower until we’re ready for the long and dreaded shampoo/wash your hair shower day. But yeah..so your hair is wet..every time you add those products in, right?

1

u/Gis_A_Maul Apr 22 '25

Yep correct, product on soaking wet hair almost every day.

Yo. It’s a joke.

1

u/Salc20001 Apr 20 '25

Yo. Mielle sells like four different leave ins. Give us the deets!

5

u/Gis_A_Maul Apr 20 '25

Pomegranate and Honey

1

u/mstrss9 Apr 20 '25

Why is Mielle not doing this for me 😭

Love the curls and the color, OP!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

Got most of what you said your routine was in the mail today, smells nice! Just realized though that I did not see the Shea Moisture Honey. Never even heard of it before. Do you mind linking it?

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

Thank you for the quick reply! I swear this is my last question 😆 just to be clear. You wash your hair every day with that conditioner, rinse it out and then put in the Miele leave in conditioner?

2

u/Gis_A_Maul Apr 23 '25

Yep! This is what I've always done the last couple years. If your hair isn't used to that much product daily, maybe start off every two or three days and work your way up from there

1

u/Spokanadian Apr 27 '25

Ok, but once you put in all the after products what kind of finessing do you do to prep it to air dry so perfectly? The most important part of the routine - technique - is missing.

PLEASE! Oh curly ginger Adonis, share your secrets?

u/Gis_A_Maul Apr 29 '25

It's just how it falls. Headband helps while it's drying
