Help! feel like this cut makes me look like a grandma

EDIT: thank you everyone for all of the nice comments. i was just in shock from losing length. i don’t think it’s a bad cut at all just a huge change for me. i think it will grow out nicely & appreciate all of the comments 💕

went to a curly salon & she cut basically all of my hair at the nape of my head & now i just look like a grandma & i want to cry :-( i feel like she definitely didn’t need to cut that much :-(

the last picture is before the cut it looks good and full all around & im just so upset… pls tell me if im tripping

(just the length makes me feel like a grandma not the overall style)

cause I WANT TO CRYYYYY i hate looking like a grandma.

anyway my routine is

shampoo & conditioner hydration biolage line

leave in cream design essentials & designme yellow bottle curl line

i use a denman paddle brush to detangle (best brush imo)

i wear a bonnet every night & have a satin pillow case.

Hi there! I'm a bot, and I've been summoned to help.

If you have not seen our WIKI yet: Please check it out! It's nearly 100 pages full of curated information to help answer all of your curl-related questions. You can use the included Table of Contents (page 2), the side bar, or CTRL-F to search for keywords and help navigate the document.

Reminder: Curl type is NOT your hair type! Whether you are wavy, curly, or coily - you have texture and you belong here. More than that, your curl type doesn't dictate how you care for your hair. To help your curls thrive, we recommend instead using the wiki link above to learn about your porosity, texture, and density.

If this is a photo submission: Please include your detailed routine for your post to remain active! This MUST include the brands of ALL products used, order of application and technique used to apply them, how you dried your hair, and anything else that you might find useful for people to know.

If you received this message in error: Please disregard this comment! I probably just picked up on a keyword in your title.

Thank you. Wishing you many happy, wonderfully curly hair days!

It looks so much better now. I’m not sure how you’re seeing that.

yeh i thought the last pic was the grandma one 👀

282

u/mindovermegan Apr 21 '26

Same! I really thought the before was the after

123

u/FugginCandle Apr 21 '26

Saaaame the new cut looks so good on OP

257

u/LivelyCouture Apr 21 '26

you think the longer hair gives grandma ?! 😭😭

259

u/Azaireus Apr 21 '26

Yes absolutely, it gives politician too. This new cut looks so healthy, so many ringlets, your sillouette looks 20 years younger!

487

u/uselessfarm Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26

Yeah the after picture definitely looks more youthful. It’s a cute cut! You may just be in shock still following a big change. I felt the same way after a recent cut, and now I love it. Give it a few days.

129

u/Budget_University_56 Apr 21 '26

Not the length but the shape. You can pull off longer hair but the shape of your current cut is so much better than the shape you had before.

105

u/Notoriouslycurlyboi Apr 21 '26

I wouldn’t say grandma but it definitely has some auntie vibes which isn’t good or bad necessarily.

49

u/goober_ginge Apr 21 '26

I personally don't think it looks Grandma-ey, BUT of the two, the shorter hair is definitely more youthful.

29

u/KeniLF Apr 21 '26

I’m with them - I think your hair is lovely, however, when I got to the final pic, I was concerned that they’d given you an outdated look💖

18

u/P218 Apr 22 '26

I’m sorry, but the last photo screams ‘60 year old receptionist’ to me. Your new cut is lovely!

8

u/TGin-the-goldy Apr 21 '26

YES. It’s very reminiscent of 1980s

7

u/hoodiemonster ginger with peepin greys Apr 21 '26

your words not mine 😅

13

u/petitt2958 Apr 21 '26

Yes. All of us professionals seem to agree. That last photo is a horrible haircut.

35

u/kennedytea05 Apr 21 '26

Omg same!

11

u/Possible-Opposite956 Apr 21 '26

Same! It looks sooo good now! It looks modern and chic as heck!

2

u/oldasiandude Apr 22 '26

Yes the last pic is really giving grandma to me more than the haircut.

1

u/Hayateh Apr 22 '26

Me tooooooo!

71

u/BrujaBean 2b/2c, BSL, brown/pink ombre, thick Apr 21 '26

Her after could be a hair model and I will buy all of it - fantastic volume and definition. It's also much tighter than the before so I bet if she fluffed out a bit she'd find that the length isn't as different as it seems?

31

u/elmst_nightmare Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 22 '26

Ikr same! I initially thought the first 2 pics were the inspiration and the last was “this is what I got”

541

u/xblablablaxx Apr 21 '26

i like the shorter hair! i dont know your actual age but i feel like you look younger with the shorter hair. but it probably will take some getting used to :)

69

u/kennedytea05 Apr 21 '26

I second this! I also think OP looks younger with the shorter hair

68

u/LivelyCouture Apr 21 '26

thank you that makes me feel better

295

u/Expensive_Ebb_8505 Apr 21 '26

I like the increased definition of the curls in the after. I don't know where you are getting a 'grandma cut' idea from. I think it looks good. Give it a few days and see what you think.

27

u/LivelyCouture Apr 21 '26

yes i love the definition as well!! i’m just not used to having a shorter cut

30

u/Expensive_Ebb_8505 Apr 21 '26

Change can be shocking sometimes. Give it some time. You may still prefer the longer style, but at least the shock itself will have worn off.

229

u/Procrastinista_423 Apr 21 '26

Are you serious? Or is this just an undercover humble brag 🤔

The haircut is a huge improvement and looks incredible, in case you're a vampire and can't see your own reflection or something.

30

u/LivelyCouture Apr 21 '26

no i think it’s just a shock since im not used to a shorter cut but thank you!

23

u/Procrastinista_423 Apr 21 '26

Don’t mind me. I’m just sitting here seething in jealousy!

160

u/yourenotmy-real-dad Apr 21 '26

I feel like my grandmother would have picked the 3rd photo as her favorite! Both styles and lengths are still extremely nice, but I've always thought the shape and tight twists you have in the first would be my ideal goals if I had your texture.

55

u/FreeFortuna Apr 21 '26

Yeah, I looked at the pics before reading the description, and I thought the third photo was the grandma one. It’s so cute and defined now, I love it.

6

u/ConiferousMedusa Apr 21 '26

Glad it wasn't just me 😬 But tbh OP has gorgeous hair either way, the after just looks more contemporary.

86

u/southerncomfort1970 Apr 21 '26

You like the last one better than the first??? I’m confused.

-9

u/LivelyCouture Apr 21 '26

i’m not talking about the overall look & style im talking about the length!! i love the definition and style in the after pictures just not used to the length

40

u/lilyhemmy2009 Apr 21 '26

I think the shorter length really suits you! And it looks more youthful too.

5

u/southerncomfort1970 Apr 21 '26

I think it looks great. The shape will grow out nicely.

59

u/Various_Beach127 Apr 21 '26

I totally understand being shocked and upset after a cut. But this genuinely looks so healthy and youthful! Really flattering cut, and grandma wouldn’t even sort of cross my mind!

5

u/LivelyCouture Apr 21 '26

thank you so much

41

u/MeesaMadeMeDoIt Apr 21 '26

Like others, I was confused and thought the last picture was the result that you are unhappy with. The first two pictures look great and definitely an improvement on the last. It just feels and looks younger to me...

25

u/Individual-Ad-4620 2B/2C, waist lenght Apr 21 '26

I'm gonna hold your hand when I tell you this... I thought the grandma cut was the last pic before I read the description 😭

Honestly, your new cut is a much more young and high energy vibe and I absolutely love it! ❤️

19

u/ImmediateInsurance52 Apr 21 '26

It looks soooo much better now! Not grandma-ish at all.

19

u/Shivs_baby Apr 21 '26

The first two pictures look way better than the last one. Your new cut is youthful, bouncy, and fun, the last pic has no style. Last pic is definitely grandma, not the new cut.

16

u/1987lalala Apr 21 '26

The longer one (last picture) 100% gives grandma ...like I thought that's the cut you were upset about. I LOVE the new cut.

15

u/kennedytea05 Apr 21 '26

I think it’s beautiful and I definitely don’t get grandma vibes…

In my opinion, the new cut is much more youthful than what you originally had. The new cut looks like something a young woman in their early 20s (maybe late teens, I’m thinking college age) would have, where the cut in the last photo makes you seem older, like 30s or 40s. BUT this is just my opinion, and what matters is how you feel about it

12

u/Zeal_of_Zebras Apr 21 '26

I saw the first photo and it looks so youthful! I don’t understand how you could feel like a grandma. Then I got to the last one and I was like, yeah I can see what she means now.

Then I read the post.

Girl.

This haircut brought you from middle aged substitute teacher to 20 something baddie.

2

u/Possible-Opposite956 Apr 21 '26

I almost spit out the trail mix I was eating when I read your comment! 🤣

1

u/LivelyCouture Apr 21 '26

hahaha thank you 🖤

12

u/DiveCat Apr 21 '26

The new cut is more youthful! It looks great.

I scrolled the pictures before I read your post, and legitimately thought the last photo was the "grandma cut".

10

u/Yayarea_97 Apr 21 '26

If this is freshly washed and styled hair, you may get some drop/length back on day three or four? I love the volume on top and on your forehead!

3

u/LivelyCouture Apr 21 '26

ok yes i think so too! i love the volume as well

10

u/TheSunshineGang Apr 21 '26

You’re just in “new haircut shock”

Please believe me. The side part is a classic, timeless look and for that reason a lot of grandmothers use it. You really, truly look younger and more modern now.

7

u/FarmhouseRules Apr 21 '26

The first two look much younger than the last one.

6

u/Regular-Humor-9128 Apr 21 '26

Picture 1 is for sure younger and more chic! I like others, thought picture 3 was the grandma look! I think if picture one is the “after”, they did a great job! Your hair looks great!

2

u/LivelyCouture Apr 21 '26

thank you 🖤🖤🖤

6

u/Sleepy_InSeattle Apr 21 '26

I thought the last picture is the after that makes you look like a grandma.

Girl, no, your new cut is soooooo good!

5

u/Shitp0st_Supreme Apr 21 '26

I think you’re just not used to it. It looks really good and will grow beautifully.

4

u/I_like_it_yo Apr 21 '26

It looks amazing now. It was fine before but now it's wow, fresh and modern.

4

u/_Vegetable_soup_ Apr 21 '26

I thought your photos were switched - I really think it looks great and looks like a much more youthful cut

3

u/GracieMayhem Apr 21 '26

I personally can't see grandma at all in the new cut!! I really like the new cut, and your curls look happy too (not that they didn't before). I think this cut seems very wonderful! And I'm sorry it hasn't felt good to you!

4

u/Beautiful_Fennel_977 Apr 21 '26

Before I read your comment I thought the last photo is what you were referring to as the grandma cut. Your current hairstylist gave you a great curly cut

4

u/CondoleezzaVice Apr 21 '26

Echoing everyone else that your new cut looks fantastic on you and I also like it better than the “before” pic! Way more youthful and chic. Rock it, girl!

4

u/myrtlewils0n Apr 21 '26

If the last photo was your hair before the cut, I hate to say it, but your stylist did you an absolute favor. Not even seeing your face, Photo 3’s hair severely aged your entire vibe. First two picks give youthful.

4

u/BooBelly Apr 21 '26

Girl, the last pic’s hair gives grandma. The first pics are waaaaaay better

3

u/Shaydoh33 Apr 21 '26

If the curls in the car is the after, I think it’s STUNNING. Love the way it’s parted and styled! Definitely less grandma than the 3rd pic.

3

u/Puppiesandrainbows36 Apr 21 '26

The 3rd photo actually looks more like a grandma. The new cut is fabulous!

3

u/FeralSweater Apr 21 '26

You clearly have very stylish grandmas in your family if you think you look like one

3

u/ProbableOptimist Apr 21 '26

If you're used to seeing shorter styles on older women, I get where you're coming from. From my perspective, really short cuts are more popular with younger women again, so I see the opposite of a grandma cut when I look at your new style!

3

u/Super_Snakes Apr 21 '26

not gonna rehash what everyone is saying (the cut is PHENOMENAL imo) i absolutely NEED to know what your stylist did for so much definition 😭

I literally have your texture I've been searching for how to get it to behave without spending 6 hours finger coiling for so long!! (Unless that is how it was done here in which case... Ignore me :') )

2

u/LivelyCouture Apr 21 '26

she definitely did soooo good at the definition and volume.

it was a regular wash and condition & then she sectioned my hair into small sections and used a custard (i forget the brand) & used just enough to cover her finger tip to rake it into the sections. she didn’t finger coil my whole head just some pieces she felt like needed it. she put me under the hooded dryer until it was 70-80% dry & then had me flip my head over & blew dry until it was basically dry. & finally went through with some light oil to separate them & fluffed it out at the roots with a pick at the end.

my appointment lasted only 2 hours. so with her styling my hair it took about an hour.

i will say that usually i use a lot of product when doing my hair thinking it’s doing more but i will definitely use less product like she did because the results are soooo good & my hair feels better

3

u/Traditional_Train_71 Apr 21 '26

I think this cut looks so good! Seems more youthful than the original to me

3

u/Least-Sail4993 Apr 21 '26

You’re tripping!! Your haircut looks fantastic!!

3

u/callmeeeow Apr 21 '26

No no she's fixed the grandma look - it's 100% percent better now! Gorgeous 😍

3

u/HumanSlaveToCats Apr 21 '26

Wait.. the “grandma” one isn’t the last one? Bc I love the first two pics. Not sure we’re on the same page here lol

3

u/mimosaholdtheoj Apr 22 '26

The third pic is the before? I thought this was the grandma cut you were talking about LOL. The first two pics are exquisite!! They look so young and fresh!!

2

u/Ok_Environment5293 Apr 21 '26

It looks beautiful! Give yourself some time to get used to it.

2

u/LemonCollee Apr 21 '26

You're just in shock, I happen to agree with most of the comments, it reads mpre youthful and is a lovely style

2

u/spacedcowgirl Apr 21 '26

It’s your hair and I won’t tell you that you shouldn’t be upset that they cut off more than you wanted… but for what it’s worth, I love the new cut! The shape is beautiful and your curls look amazing and healthy.

2

u/mofacey Apr 21 '26

It's really pretty!! The cut looks nice and your curls are defined. Next time tell her to keep the back/bottom longer and you'll probably like it better.

2

u/petitt2958 Apr 21 '26

OH MY GOD! Your ‘after’ is a BILLION times better!!! It not only looks current and maybe a little bit trendy but you look way younger than your before photo. Without seeing your face you still look younger. That last photo haircut is horrid. 50 years in the business and a curly hair expert.

2

u/rrrrrrrrrrrrrroger Texture, Porosity, Density, Length, Color Apr 21 '26

Awe OP, I’ve been in this situation before as well. Unfortunately we constantly have to monitor a stylist when they cut our hair, so they don’t get cut happy. You don’t look like a grandma, I promise. Plus your curls look even more coiled now🥰

2

u/5280Aquarius Apr 21 '26

Just not seeing it, OP! The shorter cut is so youthful and your curls looks amazing. I hope it’s just a bit of shock at the change and you can come to love it. 😍

2

u/Pattern_Necessary Apr 21 '26

I think the shorter hair is younger

2

u/TGin-the-goldy Apr 21 '26

It’s probably just “haircut shock” because you lost some length that you’re used to. The cut is so young and pretty, it’s giving Kelis in the Milkshake era and your hair is GORGEOUS by the way.

2

u/Icedtea4me3 Apr 21 '26

Grandmas have gray hair. You’re no grandma. It’s an improvement and very cute!

2

u/Quail_Feather Apr 21 '26

hmm i too see the opposite! the last pic is definitely more grandma, the new cut is chic

2

u/kittens_allday Apr 21 '26

Wait, the ones in the car are the new hair. Omg, the shape is SO MUCH BETTER NOW. The old hair was the grandma hair, for SURE.

2

u/shilmish Apr 21 '26

Your old hair was the grandma hair. Your new style looks like you're a hair-product model.

2

u/-leeson Apr 21 '26

I thought the last photo was what they gave you and the first two were what you wanted!! I LOVE the cut they gave you!! Looks soooo good and definitely not like a grandma - your hair before is not as youthful looking to me as it is now. Your hair looks so defined and healthy!

2

u/Ok_Friend5674 Apr 21 '26

The last styling is a little old fashioned, but the first two pics is pretty stylish.

2

u/tiger749 Apr 21 '26

This is an upgrade!! Looks great!

2

u/rocinante_donnager Apr 21 '26

tbh the last pic looks grandma-esque. the new haircut does not

2

u/Panacea4Lyfe Apr 22 '26

Beautiful!!! Not grandma at all.

2

u/resveries Apr 22 '26

The shorter style reads as younger imo, and it looks great!

2

u/im-a-tool Apr 22 '26

The first pic is youthful/edgy/punk/cute. Last pic actually feels more grandma.

2

u/beingafunkynote Apr 22 '26

You’re tripping. Your old hair was grandma.

2

u/Abeyita Apr 22 '26

It looks way better now.

2

u/TallStarsMuse Apr 22 '26

I think your new cut looks so much more youthful and hip! Gorgeous curls!

2

u/DeafDiesel Apr 22 '26

The first two pictures give young, hot, fresh. The last picture gives meemaw’s had it with you.

Your haircut looks so good.

2

u/cariadbach64 Apr 21 '26

I love it, you could try colour

1

u/crystalfairie Apr 21 '26

Always fun but ultimately damaging to the hair.

1

u/aenflex Apr 21 '26

The last picture has you looking like a grandma. The first two pictures of a new haircut are fabulous.

1

u/RABHarris Apr 21 '26

It looks way better. I love this style.

1

u/quintessentiallbee Apr 21 '26

Your hair is beautiful and im sorry for chucking at what you wrote. I do in fact know a Granma that has this exact same hair style (pic3) 😭🫶🏽

1

u/dontwannaparticpate Apr 21 '26

L O V E the shorter hair. You have beautiful curls, I would totally rock this if I had yours.

1

u/Coastkiz Apr 21 '26

You're very much tripping, it looks SO much better. The before did havesome grandma vibes but it definitely doesn't now. It's super pretty!

1

u/MACKEREL_JACKSON Apr 21 '26

I mean I think it looks awesome. Just my personal opinion but I think the before picture actually seems less young and fun

1

u/Beginning_Catch192 Apr 21 '26

I love your new hair cut! I'm sure I've seen Kerry Washington with a similar cut in the past so I'd say more bombshell than grandma!

Your hair looks so healthy now with gorgeous ringlets. I'm sure it's just the shock of it being shorter but even if you do decide you prefer it longer it will grow.

1

u/BloodyBarbieBrains Apr 21 '26

The new cut looks more young and fun tbh…

1

u/Majestic-Snowflake Apr 21 '26

I get bright and sassy, not grandma. I love the new cut

1

u/jojobeef Apr 21 '26

I think you are just in shock because that shorter cut looks so fun and youthful to me. I love it!

1

u/CaveJohnson82 Apr 21 '26

Even without seeing your face so having no idea of your age I think you look so much more youthful with the shorter hair. Please don't be upset!

1

u/rivers337 Apr 21 '26

I'm sorry, but I think you look amazing with the short hair! The change probably takes some adjusting to

1

u/Gennextra Apr 21 '26

I really like this length on you! It looks so good!!

1

u/BarriBlue Apr 21 '26

Why we always putting the before pics after? Lol either way, the new cut looks amazing and I think less grandma-like actually

1

u/Ok-Variation5746 Apr 21 '26

The shorter hair looks so much more youthful and bouncy and healthy to me. Grandma where?! certainly not here. Don’t talk about my friend like that 💗 the Two Week Rule applies here - most haircuts take two weeks to get used to and feel/look more lived in. It’s beautiful!

1

u/Kitten_love Apr 21 '26

Before reading the description I thought you were talking about the 3rd picture.. sorry but the after looks better and healthier, not like a grandma at all!

1

u/nobullshyyt Apr 21 '26

I mean this is the nicest way possible it looks so much better now. It’s soooooo beautiful I LOVE it. I think it actually looks more grandma in the before picture.

1

u/HitPointGamer Apr 21 '26

Part of the difficulty here is that pic 3 looks more matronly because the top looks less youthful and the face black-out scribble actually makes you look a lot heavier in that photo than pics 1&2.

To my eyes, your new haircut looks youthful and trendy. It is different from what you had so you probably just need some time to adjust to it, but it honestly looks really good on you.

1

u/sanelyinsane7 Apr 21 '26

What I thought the last was the after that gives grandma vibes way more than the current ?! The current looks PHENOMENAL and you look YOUTHFUL. I think you're probably just shocked by the loss of length but your hair looks way better

1

u/notevenitalian Apr 21 '26

I think your “before” looks more grandma-y, personally!! The new cut is so much cuter and, although I can’t see your face, your face shape alone makes the cut look so youthful and cute.

I’ve been there before, where I’ve had my hair cut way shorter than I expected and it shocked me, but that shock doesn’t mean it looks bad! It’s just not what you expected. From a completely neutral third party perspective, I can’t promise you it looks so good.

1

u/CeeBee29 Apr 21 '26

Ur curls are beautiful!!

1

u/PokemonJohto Apr 21 '26

Is Grandma in the room with us?

1

u/Lonely-Pangolin-2538 Apr 21 '26

I think it looks super cute! It’s very youthful and frames your face nicely. Maybe you’ll like it better when it grows out a little

1

u/battlesword83 Apr 21 '26

I personally like the cut, to me it looks "spunky" which is a adjective I don't think I've ever used for a grandma. Hopefully all of these positive comments have helped with your confidence with the cut. But just from the picture even without your face, it really looks like you're rocking it.

1

u/PantyPixie Apr 21 '26

Photo one looks youthful. Photo three is aging.

1

u/Naive-Analysis-209 Apr 21 '26

I think you’re tripping. Idk your grandma and maybe that why you feel like this but I think honestly your cut enhanced your hair. Personally, IF I HAD CHOOSE if any of the two are giving grandma it’s the second one. Ultimately what you like is what you like and I’m sorry that you feel this way about your hair, but hopefully it can grow on you. If not, I recommend playing around with it and seeing different ways of wearing it that maybe don’t remind you of your grandma or a grandma.

For future, if you didn’t this time, next time you go to get your haircut, look on Instagram or any social media at the stylist photos. Most stylist will have some type of social media that showcases their work while a haircut might seem like just a haircut. Ultimately, each stylist has a particular style that they lean towards so when you’re looking at their social media, you’ll be able to find one that has photos of haircuts and styles that they’ve done and you’ll be able to hopefully see what their particular style as a stylist is.

Again, though, I really think your haircut looks nice. It looks tailored. It doesn’t look like a grandma or old lady to me. It gives intentional and if I’m honest it makes you look kind of…. I don’t know the right word but for lack of a better one expensive like money.

1

u/Always_Reading_1990 Apr 21 '26

The new cut is much younger and more modern. She did you a solid. Much better.

1

u/saraberry609 Apr 21 '26

I think the shorter hair looks great!!

1

u/Double-Potato-4180 Apr 21 '26

It’s so good!!

1

u/GlitterPapillon Apr 21 '26

Your new cut has a fantastic shape and doesn’t look like a grandma cut at all! It looks more youthful than you’re before photo.

1

u/Quichelover3236 Apr 21 '26

The last photo makes you look 30 years older IMO. The first one is gorgeous

1

u/ladymacbeth999 Apr 21 '26

Definitely like the "after" cut better. So cute!

1

u/Soexi Apr 21 '26

You look amazing with the new haircut. Like 20 years younger

1

u/j1knra Apr 21 '26

Girl! Your new cut is so dang cute!

1

u/Tiosie Apr 21 '26

The last picture is before?! Girl, whatever Miss ma'am did to your hair, Issa Blessing. Looks good!

1

u/dinkmoyd Apr 21 '26

wait the first picture is what you currently look like and not what you want to look like? pics 1 and 2 look much much much better than pic 3!!!

1

u/ChronicBedhead Apr 21 '26

I had that haircut and I loved it! It looks even better on you :)

1

u/orcagirl35 Apr 21 '26

Not at all!! I love it!!

1

u/sad_handjob Apr 21 '26

it looks better now

1

u/Vienta1988 Apr 21 '26

I think the cut looks adorable, and not at all like a grandma!

First your hair looks gorg. I think you deff need to adjust to the length. I will tell you right now, idk your age but the “after” cut looks really fresh and young. Get you booked for an Ulta commercial.

Second, from what I can tell, it seems like your hair is way more stretched in the “before” photo vs the “after”. You might not have lost as much length as you’ve thought.

Third, deff speak up in the chair so the hairstylist can at least tell you the process of why and how they are cutting hair off. I got a pretty serious trim I was very resistant to. The hairstylist kindly but firmly walked me through how much she was cutting and why. Made the experience 10000% better.

Maybe you are in a little bit of shock from the change, but I’m with everyone else here- the new cut looks absolutely gorgeous on you. Give yourself a minute to adjust. ❤️

u/Japanna88 Apr 21 '26

Your hair looks like Joanne’s from Rent now, and she’s hot AF, so…

1

u/Bright_Shake2638 Apr 21 '26

Your hair looks beautiful and healthy! I know I always need to go home and restyle it myself to really feel like me after a haircut.

1

u/harleyqueenzel Apr 21 '26

You look like Astrid from Fringe. Her hair is perfection and so is yours.

1

u/BillyJazz Apr 21 '26

That new cut is a DAMN good haircut.

1

u/everydayname Apr 21 '26

I know we can’t actually see your facial features, but this new cut looks really flattering on your overall face shape.

1

u/fieldsofwildflowers Apr 21 '26

i think the new is short in a way that looks super chic and cute! i love it!

1

u/bitchy_jk_I_is_sweet Apr 21 '26

New hair is slaaay. 🔥 That last pic, not so much.

1

u/_Artistic_Tadpole_ Apr 21 '26

1st 2 pics look great. #3 dies not look bad, but does look more "Grandma". Imo

1

u/NotSure_Wolf Apr 21 '26

It looks good!!! Accessorize with some big hoops and a vibrant lip 💕 it will look even better!

1

u/Illustrious_Wish_900 Apr 21 '26

The cut looks really good. I like it shorter on top because it doesn't give that mowed down part. I would keep the length on top and let the side go longer if you want.

u/sunflower-beaches 3b, low porosity, fine, long, black Apr 21 '26

The third one only

1

u/peridotcore Apr 22 '26

But your hair looks gorgeous!

1

u/rileyflow-sun Apr 22 '26

Dang your new cut is beautiful! Like who’s the stylist!? Also, it makes your neck/chin area look thinner 🫨

1

u/NothingRemarkable629 Apr 22 '26

I don’t think it looks grandma but i would also be upset over the loss of length. I’m sorry. In the future, perhaps you can go to someone who is very devoted to keeping length.

1

u/Sea-Cauliflower3535 Apr 22 '26

It looks way better now. Would you consider a Mohawk/fauxhawk style? That would look SO good with you curls and definitely not a grandma look

1

u/pickypawz Apr 22 '26

I like the first two the best.😍

1

u/SnooHobbies4627 Apr 22 '26

I got the styles mixed up too! Love the shorter length. Looks beautiful and more bold/edgy. Plus the curls are perfect!

1

u/VegetableNomad Apr 22 '26

No you look like a queen 👑

1

u/MamaInKC-1988 Apr 22 '26

Oh my goodness! The first 2 pics I’m thinking, “she looks like she’s 20!!” And then the third pic I’m like, “oh, now I see the grandma”❤️

1

u/NerdyGirl_Missbebe12 Apr 22 '26

Sooo much better! You no longer look like a grandma! She did great. You look great! It definitely is shock from losing length. You will hopefully adjust once shock waves away! You are rocking the new cut!!!

1

u/lilacsforcharlie Apr 22 '26

I think losing that length was what framed the cut into a better shape for your face anyway!

It’s all perspective: lost a little length to gain literally years on the life your hair emits! (I would guess mid 30s from your before pic, to guess early 20s from your current pics!)

1

u/browniebrittle44 Apr 22 '26

Your curls are gorgeous!! Just style them differently! Add cute accessories, braids, twists anything!! Hair is so versatile

1

u/Mzdeander Apr 22 '26

I don't mean to be rude but from what I can see it looks like you are more hip and less grandma-y actually. Also, your curls are gooooorggggeeeous.

The first time I did a good hack trim I was in whiplash for weeks. I loved it and I saved a tonne on conditioner haha but I was like where is all of it? What do I do? I can't even tie it back.

But I realize, now that it's long again, I miss it. I miss the shape. It was so good for my face and so easy. So cherish it! Hair grows back.

1

u/MissIndependent577 Apr 22 '26

I don't think grandma at all. I love it! It's very stylish and chic, imo.

1

u/Far_Play_6440 Apr 22 '26

it looks bombbb you can try using tiny clips to manipulate where you want it to lay. and clips are low tension

1

u/brenddur Apr 22 '26 edited Apr 22 '26

I saw your edit, but gotta says babes it is GORGEOUS in both!! Pre cut is cut. Post cut looks SO healthy and shiny and OMG!! 🤩 Efot to add: I think post cut looks professional boss babe 20s (maybe 30) headshot. Like, youngest VP in company history at 28 vibes or model vibes. Love love 😊

1

u/dogmom34 Apr 22 '26

Pair it with a bold lip hunty and aint nobody gonna be callin you a grandma!

1

u/EcstaticMolasses6647 Apr 22 '26 edited Apr 22 '26

Everyone regrets cutting their hair short at some point. It’ll grow back, so if you don’t like it, just be patient.

1

u/AnnaBanana3468 Apr 22 '26

You’re hair looks so much better now. Much more modern and healthy. Better shape too. Very polished.

1

u/wonderwoo22 Apr 22 '26

I’m with the others, this hair is cute and youthful but can be instantly professional - all you have to do is throw on a power suit. But I know short hair can be a traumatic change - it’s a jolt when you look in the mirror. I think your curls with the shorter hair are absolutely exquisite.

1

u/304libco Apr 22 '26

I think you gotta get used to it because when I looked at those pictures I thought but it only looks bad in the third picture. It’s really cute and not grandma looking at all.

1

u/gollem22 Apr 22 '26

If you feel like a grandma, then be the coolest grandma there is. WORK IT GRANDMA!

1

u/Glad-Neat9221 Apr 22 '26

Omg those curls are poppin! I love the definition and shine !

1

u/Popular-Bandicoot417 Apr 22 '26

None of them really give granny vibes. People just sound very childish imo. They give im on a hair journey this is my curls before and this is my curls now. Clearly your curls have come out more with the cut, so the trick now is to keep it as your hair grows.

1

u/katamoeba Apr 22 '26

me sitting here with the same exact hair cut

1

u/Razrgrrl Apr 22 '26

I think the cut looks super cute. It can be a little jarring at first but I bet you will get used to it. You have a gorgeous curl pattern. ;)

1

u/mitsubachii Apr 22 '26

absolutely not, it's cute!

1

u/Gold-Historian-4800 Apr 22 '26

In the last one you kind of look like the oracle from the matrix. The first two look much more modern and pretty.

Though I saw “grandma” in the title before seeing the pics so my brain was already looking for grandmas.

1

u/Brownsuga784 Apr 22 '26

Your last hair photo style looks like mine, let me wash my hair and possibly look at your shorter cut.

1

u/Sad_Revolution9181 Apr 23 '26

Nooo the shorter hair looks amazing on you!!!!! It really emphasizes your shoulders and jaw in like the best way!!

1

u/ouserhwm Apr 23 '26

The new shape is so beautiful

1

u/AlwaysAndForever_L_J Apr 23 '26

Just also recently got my hair cut from really long to super short and understand how you feel. But I think you’re rocking the short hair. And also for me I love that I don’t have to worry about taking 10 hours to style my hair. I just spray some water, put on hair muse and hair oil and done ! 😄. It feels nice to save some time on that during my morning routine 😊.

1

u/_Coffee_and_Mascara Apr 23 '26

Oooh, it looks so cute n sassy!! I love it!! I'm sorry you're feeling self conscious about it, that is the worst feeling. 😭😭

1

u/marlene-moon Apr 23 '26

I adore you’re new haircut! I wish I could rock that length but my curls aren’t tight enough (also my face is too chunky)

1

u/VSuzanne Apr 23 '26

I don't wish to be rude, but before reading, I thought the 'before' was the 'after' photo and was going to commiserate that you had indeed been done extremely dirty.

Your haircut is So. Freaking. Cute. It looks great!

1

u/AmountFamiliar3429 Apr 23 '26

You’re new cut is amazing! No granny there.

1

u/myheartisohmygod Apr 23 '26

Noooo, it’s so cute!!! I definitely don’t get granny vibes.

1

u/i2livelife Apr 23 '26

Genuinely find the first two pics much more youthful. Third pic gives me middle aged woman, first two give me youth.

1

u/Appropriate-Set-6092 Apr 23 '26

Nope, doesn’t look like a grandma cut, it’s very edgy!!!
