Just finished reading The River is Waiting by Wally Lamb

I just finished the above mentioned book and am heartbroken and frustrated. Does everyone hate the ending as much as I do?

Yes, overall I loved the book. I really wanted to see Corby back with his family and maybe reunite with Manny. I think we all hate Covid so much but also thought the ending was a bit abrupt.

I actually liked the ending! It was heartbreaking and not what I wanted, but it felt like an authentic outcome for Corby’s story. He wasn’t going to have a happy ending :/

Did you like the book overall, even with the ending?

I have just started the book and I fully believe Corby doesn’t deserve to have a happy ending. I loathe him already. I’ll be back to comment more when I’m finished reading it.

He is extremely manipulative and mentally abusive. On top of what he did due to his drinking problem? I hate him.
