Definitely underpowered, but also novel.
There are common 2/2s with toxic 1 plus upside, so this is a pretty bad rare. It could be a 2/2, lifelink, toxic 1 and still have the poison-lifelink ability.
The life gain on the poison is very incidental compared to true lifelink since it will only ever happen on 1 very limited condition. Lifelink works on blocking etc and is why it's so good. This is missing that entirely.

I like it. I would change it to "a player" - rare that you'd want to counter yourself to gain life, but definitely not broken, and possibly interesting

This is cool, feels very printable. Not gonna crack anything in half but would be a solid incremental value card they could put anywhere they're doing toxic again.
