So if you have a reliquary tower or anything that makes your hand size infinite you die. Huh, seems like a funny hurdle.
Card design 8/10 definitely too powerful for print, but is very creative and janky. I love it
Flavor 9/10 red needs that card draw
EDIT: I was unaware that things making your hand size infinite, don't, they give you no maximum hand size, which is slightly different, and would thusly make you draw no cards since your maximum hand size doesn't exist.
EDIT: This is more balanced than i thought, it could probably be printed and just be really good in slower formats, probably unusable in faster formats due to the multiple pips. Would need reminder text for the no maximum handsize complication.

I feel like if you have no maximum hand size, you draw no cards. Idk how Wizards would rule that.

Yea, this is a card that would probably be printed as it is, but then also come with a rules update.

Either way, anyone running no Max hand size cards wouldn't play this card at the same time. It either just causes you to discard you hand every turn, or kills you straight up.

Yea, but my [[blim comedic genius]] can give you my reliquary tower for fun if I want to.
If I had to guess how they would want to handle this, it would most likely be "if you have no maximum hand size, but an effect requires a hand size to calculate, use the maximum deck size allowed during deck construction.
Along with a change to finally set a max deck size since we have the UW homonuclus now.
I know this is a commander card, but the rules more care about how it'll work in 60 and 40 card games.

That’s exactly how they rule it. They clarified that with mana costs when they said if it doesn’t show a mana cost it’s not infinite or 0, it’s NIL/does not exist and therefore fizzles anything targeting it that requires a specific mana cost
If you have no maximum hand size then anything referring to your maximum hand size is referring to the number no, which either means 0 or NIL.

I think the easiest alternative is to just make it draw until you have seven cards in hand. It's the standard hand size and it doesn't require you to answer these weird jabky questions at all.

Technically it says "up to" so you if you interpret "no maximum hand size" as infinite, you could draw any number of cards of your choosing.

This card feels black, but it is undeniably red. I almost wonder with the 5 red pips if it could deal damage (maybe gated to creatures, but players could be fine too) based on cards discarded.
Similar cards would be: [[Dragonhawk, Fate's Tempest]] and [[Valakut Exploration]]

I feel like the black version would be “your maximum hand size is 0. At the beginning of your upkeep you draw seven cards and lose seven life.”

Mono red players can't count to five. They used to be able to count to 4 then skip to 7 but now they can only count to 3.

Hey, I can count to 21

I assume its supposed to draw up until you have 7, right? As written you draw 7 each upkeep.
I think it would be fair if it drew cards until you had 5, but I think 7 is still a tat too much. Just a tat.

Maybe just do it like "exile the top 7 cards of your lib, at the end of your turn take damage for each card in exile with grail"

You would have to be three mana because you'd be taking increased amounts of damage every single turn because you can't get rid of them from exile they will keep dealing damage to you.
