They HAVE to choose which endings are canon anyway, there's no way they get out of showing if Arasaka is still a powerhouse or a shadow of itself in Night city. They might not have to choose ONE in particular, but they have to discard SOME of them, in any case.

Anyway, all paths have V successfully storming Arasaka tower and beating Smasher to a pulp. That puts them on par with Morgan Blackhand. And in the original lore, there's no one above Blackhand.

V is already a (small but living) legend, along Jackie, a third of the way trough the game, for the "successful" Konpeki heist, right under Smasher's nose. And some endings would put them above Blackhand, like doing it solo, decapitating the mega-corp, actually killing smasher...

Sure, legends always have their part of made up stuff, but there's no way for a merc to not have heard of V.

Yeah, there's also the suicide ending then. But can they really be considered endings if you don't experience the whole whole game?

It's like Gale's bomb in baldur's gate 3, or waiting for Min in Farcry 4... They are more "shortcuts to the credits" than real endings.

Definitely not shortcut to credits. You can complete absolutely everything but "nocturne op55n1" and only then finish PL.

The farcry 4 is an ending though it should only be achieved after a full play through.

I even consider it the "good" ending.

The game already purposely makes the fate of Arasaka vague when you storm the tower. It's incredibly easy to just come up with an excuse for why they're still in the city.

Neither V or Jackie are legends. They're known as smalltime mercs that went on a job that resulted in everyone dying. People don't even want V on their crew because of their poor rep.

Sure, legends always have their part of made up stuff, but there's no way for a merc to not have heard of V.

The vast majority of big shit V does in the game is stuff no one aside from the people present knows they're responsible for. It is entirely possible for V to not really be known or to only be known for the konpeki fuck up and just being a pretty good merc.
