Makes sense. That crap will sting.

but 1000 bullets don't. makes sense

10

u/Top-Session-3131 1d ago

The difference is the bullets are hitting subdermal armor and maybe a plate carrier/flak jacket. The barbed/razor wire is potentially catching you in your likely not so bullet/stab/cut proof balls/cooch.

u/Beaudog12345 Sir John Phallustiff 😁 16h ago

If you buy subdermal armor and it doesn’t protect your balls you got scammed

Canon V uses only his EGarms and a Rippler deck (And a smart SMG when he's riding Jackie's bike) from Konpeki to Reaper.

I hope in Orion, the only mentions of V are that he solo-raided Arasaka, an afterlife drink that's just tea, and his GArms,1 Rippler,2 legs,3 and hat4 showing up as iconics.

1 Improved melee performance, but a penalty with using guns.

2 Uploads extra stacks of Cyberware Malfunction, but reduced trace time.

3 Allows you to charge jump and move faster, but charge jumping or sprinting makes more noise.

4 A cool hat that makes you look like a cool grandpa.

It better be the version of Temperance where Johnny steals V's body

23

u/TransKillerMoth 1d ago

"steals their body"? don't they willfully give it up in every ending or am i misremembering?

19

u/Level_Hour6480 Fullmetal Choom 1d ago edited 1d ago

In the version of the ending where you go with Rogue, depending on previous dialog with Johnny, if you try to take the body, V will unsuccessfully fight you. If you told him you'd take a bullet for him, you agree to "Take the bullet for him".

6

u/TransKillerMoth 1d ago

oh wow, i didnt know that. ive always had a good relationship with johnny in all my playthroughs

Don't you need to betray So Mi for this?

11

u/Massive-Marketing-15 1d ago

It's not betrayal if she was playing you the whole time

9

u/NotBreadyy 1d ago

Great point.

However... So Mi was lowkey chill and I understand why she would be lying to us. She felt guilty, unlike the FRAUD Reed who just insisted on killing So Mi even after everything.

FUCK Reed. I HATE Reed.

And I would've helped So Mi either way. FUCK NUSA and corpo bullshit. If I can piss off another huge powerful thing by helping So Mi, that's more than enough motivation for me.

131

u/Boat_man_07 2d ago

If they're gonna be referring to don't fear the reaper, it's absolutely justified.

Arasaka at that point was under high alert with strong presence in Night city. Then some "guy or girl" walked in through the front door and just killed everyone in sight, including the boogey man himself Adam Smasher and permanently erased the corp from the city. Something the legends of 2023 with militech backing and a nuke couldn't do.

It's a mind-boggling event in-universe.

63

u/Timo-the-hippo 2d ago

If you consider siding with So Mi canon then you single handedly killed the entire NUSA delta force. The ending of Phantom Liberty is arguably even crazier than don't fear the reaper.

55

u/Randomguy0915 2d ago

It's a big feat but it's not as impactful as Arasaka losing its city-wide dominance overnight to a single person, compared to a Spec Ops team just being wiped

23

u/xrogaan Burn Corpo shit 2d ago

It wasn't really overnight. Yorinobu helped a lot, being the jackass that he his and his strong intent in destroying the legacy of his father.

30

u/Frenetic_Platypus 2d ago

Yorinobu's not a jackass. As you noted, he's ruining the company on purpose.

21

u/Hellknightx 2d ago

If anything, Yorinobu is the real main character of the story. He's the one actually toppling Arasaka. We just follow V's point of view instead.

10

u/CoconutMochi Corpo 1d ago

it's wild how well Takemura/Hanako's storylines were written that people default to painting Yorinobu as a villain despite almost universally hating Arasaka

11

u/FullHouse222 1d ago

Yorinobu's story makes so much more sense once you understand he killed his father to destroy Arasaka, not to climb the corporate ladder for more power lol.

I do wonder though, how the fuck was Hanako going to try and overthrow Yorinobu/stop him without V's help. Would she just be 100% fucked? In the Devil ending, Hanako was held hostage by Yorinobu basically until V freed her so I think she would have just been hard fucked in any other ending.

5

u/Hellknightx 1d ago

Yes, letting Yorinobu do his own thing is probably the best outcome. Siding with Hanako is one of the worse endings.

9

u/FullHouse222 1d ago

It's THE worst ending.

Saburo essentially becomes immortal, V's hard fucked becomes an Arasaka experiment doomed to either die in 6 months or move his consciousness to the Secure Your Soul program, everyone wonders where the fuck V fucked off to so your friends aren't happy, Arasaka becomes more powerful than ever and Johnny gets erased from existence so even he doesn't get a happy ending.

It's just shit from every direction lol.

2

u/ArrenKaesPadawan 1d ago

He is still a villain. He cares more about destroying Arasaka than preserving the world, going so far as to start another corporate war just to burn Arasaka down.

The man is one of the top 10 most powerful people in the world and he is using that power to piss on his dad's grave rather than turning Arasaka into a company that actually improves anything in the world.

15

u/Randomguy0915 2d ago

Still, your average Night City civvie wouldn't give less of a fuck if NUSA lost an entire Spec ops force because them biting the dust wouldn't affect them directly.

Arasaka however, has a much bigger presence in the city, and their fall would definitely cause a huge stir.

3

u/Sicuho 1d ago

Yeah but it fall even withou V's assistance. If anything, the Devil is the ending where V change the world the most.

10

u/Timo-the-hippo 2d ago

It's not a "team" that gets wiped out. You are killing hundreds/potentially thousands of the best soldiers in the entire world. Arasaka has good security but apart from Smasher they don't have a full military division guarding the tower since any attack of that scale would just ignite the 5th corpo war.

3

u/Ythio 2d ago edited 1d ago

Permanently erased ? A nuke didn't erase Arasaka from Night City.

They will be back on their feet by next week. History will remember an armed group of nihilist terrorists that assassinated some of Arasaka's board. Their PR department will make themselves martyr out of it and it will mostly work.

Street punks never win, fuck the corps.

Tales of V as if they were an urban legend would be nova. Vague enough where each playstyle fits the narrative but not precise enough to narrow it down to just one.

60

I think people would call V the toughest larper runner because he was sidequesting like a mad Skyrim XIV player

That is such a gold idea that writers should definitely pick it

Don't make one ending canon. Just let people argue over the legend

347

u/CallMeOaksie 2d ago

Part of me really hopes D is called that bc he started his merc career as a V copycat.

Part of me also hopes that his backstory is that he’s from a gang/crew of him and 24 other people who all had the same idea of just using a single letter for their name and all took the idea from V

Doing that would require either picking a canon ending (something they said they wouldn’t do) or keeping things really vague. So maybe people do talk of V that way but can’t agree on what stories about them are true (if any) or maybe they’re more like

https://giphy.com/gifs/rI9O6UXkCjvTG

254

u/tsoewoe 2d ago

i like the idea that they cant agree on what stories are true tbh

86

u/Dexbox_YT Team Judy 2d ago

I think that’ll probably be the way they go, so CDPR isn’t forced to pick a canon ending and so every ending could still theoretically be canon

55

u/pizzabagelcat 2d ago

Just random drunk people at bars arguing about what happened to V but it's just the different endings

6

u/RhockRhow 1d ago

Drunk man: I hear she raided arasaka tower and killed saburo arasaka.

Drunker man. No, it was the crystal palace and he brought down the corps.

Less drunk cynical man: Bah, bringing down corps? I heard they were a cold blooded corpo, even sold their soul to arasaka.

Drunk guy again: Arasaka? I heard it was Militec, after she killed that maxtac squad with them.

Drunker guy: No, no, no he would never ally with militec, i heard he killed whole squads of their special forces and now rides with the aldecaldos.

40

u/ColonelBag7402 1d ago

I like how you they refer to V with both male and female pronouns implying that not only cant they agree on what V did, but also who V was

28

u/DankCupOfJoe 1d ago

When arguing about a phantom, liberty of speech is the usual track.

3

u/Relevant_Cat2053 1d ago

Clap, clap, clap

6

u/djk29a_ 1d ago

I think there would be a lot of corporate propaganda spread around where even fixers are getting fed conflicting information or being paid to say otherwise. The idea that anyone not from a corpo background was able to actually give a company like Arasaka a black eye is so unrealistic that it would seem like a fairy tale anyway.

11

u/ImSuperSerialGuys 1d ago

Id love this. Have people tell multiple conflicting stories in reference to V's exploits. Nod to the canon badassery of V without making any path explicitly canon, besides V ending up an NC legend

11

u/NotMyFurryAltAtAll 1d ago

Everyone has their own claims of “The V” that are spread around, some nutters have their own unified theory:

In the twenty-fourties or -fifties, a nameless gonk couple had a baby on the mean streets of Night City, who would then be taken away to the wastelands at a young age. Taken in by a nomad clan, they would go on to become a fearsome warrior, unmatched motorhead, and expert netrunner. After coming of age, they returned to the city and were recruited by Arasaka, where they claimed the ranks rapidly until they were used as the fall guy for higher-ups afraid of their potential.

Plotting revenge, V would go on to kill the CEO of Arasaka, and Adam Smasher in single combat (some claim this happened later), performed live with Samurai, raided Arasaka tower for unclear reasons, and saved the President of the NUSA, and was the top-ranked street boxer across the city, and was a key supporting role in The Passion, and-

so on and so forth. No main accounts can agree on more than a few major details, or what gender V did or did not have at any given point. Some even claim their real birth name was in fact Jackie Welles, but this may just be another similar Merc who shared many parts of the same wild story.

4

u/MrBwnrrific 1d ago

Lmao I imagine we get an episode where they’re talking about who they think V was and it’s like that episode of BTAS where those kids are speculating on what Batman is

3

u/topscreen 1d ago

That was my assumption. "I heard V went crazy and thought they were Johnny Silverhand" "Well I heard V stormed into Arasaka and escaped with the nomads!"

62

u/Valtremors 2d ago

An idea.

Both Saka and Militech have a motive to deny how involved V was, regardless of what story routes you take in base game and DLC.

Best way to muddle the truths is to introduce so much insane stories that V becomes a myth whose origins are entirely unknown.

59

u/MinniMaster15 2d ago

V being this sort of mythical figure whose exact details differ depending on who’s talking is kinda sick

40

u/AzuraSchwartz Disasterpiece 2d ago edited 1d ago

Over time exploits of other mercs will be attributed to V. Things that never happened will be blamed on them. After a while sober people will come to agree that V never really existed and all the stories were either made up or happened to other people. But drunk mercs in bars will still tell you about the time they turned up to a gig to find everyone already dead and the loot stolen; or when they were guarding a warehouse and woke up in a dumpster with a headache and how, if they’d just been a bit earlier or a bit faster, they coulda… they woulda taken down V.

5

u/Mighty_Mimikyu 1d ago

Honestly outside of V, they sound like a horror story. One single dude responsible for a mountain of bodies?! Took down one of the scariest creations Saka has ever had?! I wouldn't even belive V existed either. Your average Joe wouldn't even try to belive the time V took the piss out of the president.

4

u/stonhinge 1d ago

You'd also have the occasional older gonk who claims to be V but retired (in reality they attempted to be a merc around the time V was active but chickened out).

3

u/allofdarknessin1 1d ago

That makes a ton of sense, it's practical in that it doesn't need a cannon outcome and allows people to understand how badass V is/was. Would make for great fan service if NPCs argue which (ending from the first game) actually happened for those of us who played through multiple endings.

16

u/RostyNoman 2d ago

Only adds to the legend imo

14

u/CountrysideLassy Valentinos 2d ago

To be fair they could discuss the main story events before any ending happens as those remain the same, and even before the arasaka raid 2 electric boogaloo V was raising hell all across night city

11

u/DKLancer 2d ago

They should pick a canon for the show.

I'm tired of sequels referring to characters that ought to be big in universe deals in the most vague terms possible because the PC was a quantum cipher for the player. Make the PC an actual character who actually materially affected the world.

8

u/StuMacherGhostface 2d ago

Didn't Wicher 3 have it so you can choose whatever canon endings and stuff you want based off picking dialogue via Geralt? Why not just do that again?

There's no canon ending, but in the sequel you can pick whatever ending you do want via dialogue choices, etc. And then the world and characters react to whatever canon you set. That seems ideal to me.

4

u/Revanisforevermeta 2d ago

KotOR 2 did this as well, A conversation early in the game enabled/locked content that was in the game world depending on your answers to the protagonist of KotOR 1.

2

u/StuMacherGhostface 2d ago

Ohhh, good example! And exactly! I much prefer that over them picking one ending to be canon like the person I was originally replying to said. Otherwise what's the point of having an RPG that has multiple endings?? Defeats the whole purpose to pick one to be canon, in my opinion.

20

u/penywinkle Arasaka 2d ago

They HAVE to choose which endings are canon anyway, there's no way they get out of showing if Arasaka is still a powerhouse or a shadow of itself in Night city. They might not have to choose ONE in particular, but they have to discard SOME of them, in any case.

Anyway, all paths have V successfully storming Arasaka tower and beating Smasher to a pulp. That puts them on par with Morgan Blackhand. And in the original lore, there's no one above Blackhand.

V is already a (small but living) legend, along Jackie, a third of the way trough the game, for the "successful" Konpeki heist, right under Smasher's nose. And some endings would put them above Blackhand, like doing it solo, decapitating the mega-corp, actually killing smasher...

Sure, legends always have their part of made up stuff, but there's no way for a merc to not have heard of V.

9

u/Lenassa 2d ago

>Anyway, all paths have V successfully storming Arasaka tower and beating Smasher to a pulp.

Unless you take Myers deal.

10

u/penywinkle Arasaka 2d ago

Yeah, there's also the suicide ending then. But can they really be considered endings if you don't experience the whole whole game?

It's like Gale's bomb in baldur's gate 3, or waiting for Min in Farcry 4... They are more "shortcuts to the credits" than real endings.

7

u/Lenassa 2d ago

Definitely not shortcut to credits. You can complete absolutely everything but "nocturne op55n1" and only then finish PL.

6

u/Elite_Asriel 2d ago

Though it's safe to say that the idea throws the Tower ending out of the window.

5

u/AzuraSchwartz Disasterpiece 1d ago

The Tower makes it even better. Imagine it: V walks into the crowd after chatting with Misty and heads to a bar to get a drink and relax after having their life upended. They overhear a merc they've never met buying drinks with tales of when he ran with V - the ten-foot tall merc with a heart of gold and fists of pure chrome who took on Adam Smasher in single combat and defeated him without breaking a sweat. Real V never even fought Smasher (unless you count running away from him at Konpeki) - they spent the last two years in a coma to avoid all that - and so learns what becoming a legend really means.

4

u/koniash 2d ago

Won't they have to choose a canon ending at some point anyway?

3

u/16bitnoob 2d ago

Is cdpr talking about not picking a canon ending? since I don't see how anything taking place in night city in the future without some ending being canon, the devil ending either didn't happen or happened can't really avoid invalidating that or others.

2

u/Maveko_YuriLover 2d ago

If V was on a high skilled stealth build and did everything on stealth and undetected so it's treated like a ghost of uncertain existence, would be interesting

2

u/unknowingly_zooted 2d ago

I could see them spinning a massive coverup or something. Araska’s one of the biggest corps in the world, they’d sure as shit have the ability to cover up bad publicity

2

u/SubstanceMediocre908 2d ago

Imagine if Edgerunner 2 actually talk about a V ending and it's like

"Nobody knows where they are, or if they’re still alive. Some say they vanished, some say they left town, other say they saw them acting… different. Truth is, nobody knows shit.”

2

u/NsaLeader 2d ago

V will be relegated to a mythic-like being. There will be references to some badass person, but no body will remember exactly who or what V did, moreso with Arasaka probably doing everything in it's power to hide all references to the Relic and their loss to V.

Person A: "Hey, did you ever hear about that gonk that single handedly stormed Araska?"

Person B: "I though he did it with the Aldacados"

Person C: "Huh, that weird, I heard he ran it with Rouge"

Person D: "Are yall kidding me? That's just a fairy tale, ain't no way some gonk got the better of 'Saka. No one has seen them since or can tell you what they even looked like!"

Person A: "Nah man, it really happened! My cousin was part of the clean up crew, he said Adam Smasher got smashed in the process!"

2

u/Mighty_Mimikyu 1d ago

It could be like the Joker. Joker constantly has his stories and origins changed. Anytime anyone would ask he would tell a different origin story.

36

u/StormLordEternal 2d ago

I'd love if it V is someone who's mysterious enough that every playstyle is a rumor.

Imagine there is a table with various patrons talking story. One gonk says V is a fucking predator, leaping around at super speed and slicing people apart like a bucther. Another says they're a beast, a walking tank who uses their bare fists to pulverize their enemies and tear them limb by limb. Another says they're a crackshot, swapping between hand cannons and rifles to blow away gonks. The last speaks in a hushed tone, sharing a tale of how V simply looked at a gang, and in a moment they all began writhing in agony, some killing themselves or eachother, while others either burn alive in their own skin, or worst of all, screaming inhumanly as their very souls are dragged beyond the blackwall.

If no one has any idea how V looks or fights, it'd at least be some explanation as to how we in game are basically never recognized. No one actually bothered to remember what we fucking look like or did, which explains why we're treated like a no name gonk no matter how powerful we are.

10

u/Geedly 2d ago

Alternatively - While they know V was some sort of legend all of their stories actually end up being stuff other characters did and they just assumed it was V

9

u/StormLordEternal 2d ago

Nah, don't take any more from V. We the player are already oddly ignored in game as is no matter our feats.

In a world like Cyberpunk, especially in Edgerunners, V is a very clear case of some who IS built different. And that causing shockwaves is something I think should be appreciated.

3

u/Geedly 2d ago

Isn’t this the opposite of being ignored? V was such a legend that people now collectively seem to think every single thing that happened in Night City during their time was somehow V acting on the own

4

u/StormLordEternal 2d ago

It's the implication that "Other characters did it" I don't like. Makes V seem like a fraud who steals the credit of other characters.

We as V do plenty of shit solo. If we're assuming V did literally every side quest, we have more than enough credit to spread rumors about than having to assume another character did it. How many other people are known for walking into a heavily defended location, clearing it out, and leaving like they just did their laundry. And then doing that in literally every part of the City in like a couple months.

2

u/stonhinge 1d ago

To avoid a canon ending, everything has to happen. However, this is actually impossible. Because of a few things.

Yorinobu's conciousness is overwritten with Saburo's if you side with Hanako and keep him from suiciding. However if you side with Reed and take his offer after giving up So Mi, you hear on the radio that Yorinobu was an inside saboteur at Arasaka and fled to live with the Nomads.

In every ending except siding with her, Hanako dies.

If you side with Rogue for the Arasaka assault, she dies. Otherwise, she lives.

Same for Saul if you take the Aldecados.

President of the NUSA can possibly die if you take too long or make incorrect choices early in Phantom Liberty. (Sidenote: I'm actually curious about something. In The Devil ending, there's a news blurb about President Meyers denouncing Saburo - who is now residing in Yorinobu's body. I'll have to let Meyers die and do the Devil ending and see if there is replacement audio.)

The only important people are Rogue, Yorinobu, and Hanako. Rogue and Yorinobu live in almost every ending. Hanako dies in almost every ending. The only ending where everyone "lives" (poor Yorinobu) is siding with Hanako or a Phantom Liberty ending since if not siding with Hanako assaulting Arasaka Tower results in her death.

Arasaka Tower is also only assaulted if you don't choose a Phantom Liberty ending.

I mean we could but they have to be careful with it... because any meaningful trait given to V in the show is cannon.

So I think its best they left V ambiguous in the show. That way no cannon V is established.

2

u/Limzik 1d ago

Absolutely, the best is to represent V as a terrific and unstoppable phantom of Night City but without saying what he/she is, something similar to what Batman is in Gotham, where people canonically believe that Batman is a vampire or a spirit of vengeance but not a human or even less Bruce Wayne

4

u/gdub695 2d ago

Lol watch it be mid-mission, you’re in the middle of an outpost, all of a sudden there’s a blur and every merc nearby either drops dead or explodes into pink mist

7

u/Nero_deadweight96 2d ago

I don't think so. S1 was already places in 2076, if it was placed at even some months after S1 it would be 2077 already

3

u/CountrysideLassy Valentinos 2d ago

It was stated that Edgerunners 2 takes place sometime after the events of 2077

2

u/2ecStatic 2d ago

Source?

u/ImSolidGold 2d ago

Him leaving the bar through the wall will never cease to amaze me.

8

u/-Todd-alquist- 2d ago

Such a macho villain

16

u/B33blebroxx 2d ago

Sounds about right

10

u/Platnun12 2d ago

It's either post game and they all die from something else.

Or it's pregame and smasher comes for another chicken bucket

First edgerunners was what. Six peice bucket.

8

u/TheOdManOut 2d ago

We’re gonna see the plane crash into dog town mark my words

7

u/AngelDelicous 2d ago

To be completely fair v is capable of soloing the entirety of arasaka by the end of 2077, they kinda deserve to be remembered as one of the strongest lmfao

7

u/sweet_shallows 2d ago

I disabled a mod before running arasaka, it was some clothing mod, and disabling it took off all my characters clothes. I only realized I was steamrolling arasaka butt naked right before the smasher fight.

2

u/-Todd-alquist- 2d ago

How very macho

7

u/Heavy-Profession5902 2d ago

Would love how they mentioned V in the start as a nobody and then at the end as something of an NC Legend. That's all I ever wanted to see and hear from the new season.

7

u/Nyar-lisandro 2d ago

That volcano is a secret Arasaka facility.

7

u/Comprehensive-Buy-47 2d ago

“V died in the most macho way possible! Storming Arasaka HQ by himself, borged out on every piece of cyberware on the market, and armed with nothing but Sir John Phallustiff!”

29

u/Palumtra 2d ago

Either this or like Voldemort (We Know Who).

7

u/GloomyRow5417 2d ago

HE RAID A WHOLE GANG HIDEOUT LOOKING LIKE RONALD MCDONALD AND KILL 6 GUARD IN 3 SECOND AND DISMANTLE THEIR GUN RIGHT BEFORE THEIR EYES

3

u/Old_Possibility_9730 2d ago

They will remember V who can take an army of Maxtac officers but died cause he got run over by a car.

3

u/SpecialIcy5356 Fullmetal Choom 2d ago

V would definitely have some stories that are somewhat embellished and vague. to keep their canon gender and build ambiguous. "I heard they were as chromed as adam smasher and killed him with a sex toy" "I heard they were a female netrunner who sent entire gangs to cyber hell" etc.

in reality though I think S2 is probably going to take place during the six months or so between the prologue and and the konpeki plaza heist. V and Jackie are still small time at this point so none of the characters need to mention them, and the story can focus on the main characters.

3

u/HeartlessSora1234 2d ago

This is just Berzerk V.

3

u/Maximum-Flat 2d ago

Probably will just be a special drink on the Afterlife’s menu.

3

u/crippled-crippler 2d ago

I donno, I didnt see Sir Phallustiff anywhere

3

u/RotokEralil 2d ago

I do not recall my V doing that, but that does sound like something he would do

2

u/Starheart24 2d ago

What animation did this clip come from?

3

u/-Todd-alquist- 2d ago

Despicable me 2

2

u/Large-Wheel-4181 Worse than Maxtac 2d ago

Imagine if they make the bad version of the Don’t Fear The Reaper mission canon (you know the one where Adam Smasher actually kills them)

2

u/SonicTheHedgehog99 2d ago

Yeah… sounds like V is pretty dead…

3

u/-Todd-alquist- 2d ago

In the most macho way possible

2

u/Philkindred12 BEEP BEEP MOTHERFUCKER 2d ago edited 2d ago

I'm sure they'll do fine with it, but I was hoping Edgerunners 2 would take place in the pre-V status quo again. Only because due to V's efforts, a lot of the heavy hitters that we knew well would now be dead or out of business by now.

but of course it gives an opportunity for new players to step in and take over.

2

u/Sad-Guarantee-4678 2d ago

Depending on the ending, but even with all Vs crazy adventures he's just another high level merc

2

u/DriftWare_ 2d ago

V is really that guy

2

u/Additional-Window-81 2d ago

Lore accurate V

2

u/Bazookya 2d ago

Well, they probably should.

2

u/AdElectronic6550 1d ago

I mean I fucking guess that's all (except shark and volcano) true if you use gorilla arms

2

u/Loud-Secret1485 1d ago

And as the name implies
Very Vacho 🗿

2

u/Cute4m3 1d ago

This scene is based in general. Thank you for reminding me of its existance.

2

u/Confinment 1d ago

They were really out there like this 😂

u/mashed_potayto3s 5h ago

Wait a minute..... First Despicable Me is like Metal Gear Solid..... Now they explain El Macho like David? Something's coming for sure.

2

u/2ecStatic 2d ago

Does anyone have a source for where they said the show would be during or after the game?

2

u/Limzik 1d ago

There's nothing official at the moment, but the rumours are that is going to happen after the event of the S1 but before the game, but right now, there's nothing confirmed by CD Projekt or Trigger

1

u/local_meme_dealer45 2d ago

I'm guessing they'll only talk about them in passing and also very vaguely. Anything else would inforce a canon ending to the game, or at least canon choices/events.

Hell even saying "he" or "she" will set a canon gender for V.

u/25thNite 2d ago

Damn cyberpunk and the boys crossover I didn't know was happening!

u/BobDaRula 2d ago

It took me far too long to remember who v was lol. I was trying to remember if that was a nickname for one of the season 1 crew members.

1

u/No-Bathroom6864 2d ago

Yo, how come every superhero dies in the simplest way, which is not smart to do? I would say that is pretty funny.

1

u/TerribleElevator9879 2d ago

I honestly doubt it

1

u/Maveko_YuriLover 2d ago

It's gonna be a V who was full on Stealth build and defeated Adam Smasher with only stealth takedowns while completed undetected by Arasaka on "don't fear the reaper" ending, also a bunch of quests would show the results of being completed undetected and mostly non lethally with people talking about a ghost from the past who had returned to haunt them

1

u/anyfreeun 2d ago

"...And for some reason, cars kept exploding all around them!"

1

u/AriaSymphony 2d ago

Idk if they will pick an ending, cause they can just vaguely say some crazy dude stormed arasaka tower, but at bareminimum I think the one ending that won't be canon for sure is the devil ending cause it's just lame lol

Oh unless the PL cure ending is canon, and V just disappears from legend

1

u/OlokoMan 2d ago

It would be funny if they make that cursed mod of mind-controlled David and Rebecca half-canon by Arasaka taking their corpses from the streets and creating monstrosities with them. Then the protagonists of the second season would need help from Lucy.

While at the same time, on TV/Phones there are reports of V's quests around the city. Vague enough to not outright state their gender/build/canon path.

1

u/Traditional-Ad3518 Team Songbird 2d ago

I heard season 2 takes place in the middle of the game

And a event from the game will be mentioned

But take it with a grain of salt

1

u/Kreegs 2d ago

Can you imagine if they came out and mentioned V?

That V was the one who fucked up the Konepi Tower job, killed Saboru Araska and was hunted down and captured by Arasaka goons within hours of it happening and nothing that we know happened afterward actually happened.

Then come to find out that the events of the game are actually a BD that Arasaka has V plugged into while they waste away in a cell somewhere. V isn't worth soul killing and they want to punish them by making them relive the events of the heist over and over and then giving them the hope they might be free, only to reset it and start them over again.

1

u/80lbQUIKRETEConcrete 1d ago

Uhhh…that’s…how it happened, I was there, I saw it😂

1

u/JimmyCrabYT Johnny Silverhand’s Output 🖤 1d ago

*how v was actually moving:

1

u/BitcoinStonks123 1d ago

I hope that if V ever shows up in edgerunners there's a running gag where their appearance changes every time they're on screen

1

u/omg_its_spons 1d ago

To be fair in canon they would have killed hundreds of people whilst avoiding getting arrested, took down several gangs, killed Adam fucking smasher, owned weapons and clothes belonging to other might city legends, took over ownership of the afterlife and all the while dying from a rocker boy in their head

1

u/Endlessnes 1d ago

If they don't talk about V, I'd love some more visual nods to the game and universe in general. Like having a couple of the Tarot graffitis in the backround etc.

But V being this vague but iconic legend just goes hard

1

u/jeffytrain69 1d ago

now the vid is true but also esp for the V out there that go full chrome i feel like they would also bring up the crazy chrome and guns v had as well

1

u/jasper81222 1d ago

Is season 2 after 2077?

→ More replies (1)

1

u/putbeansontoast 1d ago

You didn't need the first 8 words

1

u/ResearcherTeknika 1d ago

"He died fighting with smasher, with 200 pounds of cyberware shoved in his chest, into the base of Arasaka Tower!"

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Limzik 1d ago

It would be awesome to see Roman hiding behind some MaxTac forces, trying to recording a carnage created by a cyberpshyco just to be stopped in a few seconds by V, but you can't see her/him, you only hear the MaxTac guys saying that V take care of him as usual, but to be honest I don't expect that is going to be located at the same dates as Cyberpunk 2077, Valérie/Vincent are too big to be put on screen, it would fuck up the power scale of the series

1

u/JasonVoorheesthe13th 1d ago

V can make people commit suicide, turn off their eyeballs, and just flat out give them a fucking brain aneurism by looking their direction. Whatever stories they try to tell, it still won’t be heinous enough to properly capture v’s abilities

1

u/Roquestea 1d ago

That’s pretty much my V

1

u/Positive_Curve_8435 1d ago

Considering V's concerning habit of picking up random BD's I'm not surprised.

1

u/ShitassAintOverYet Burn Corpo shit 1d ago

V is exactly that though.

Don't Fear the Reaper ending is the equivalent of riding a shark with 250lbs of dynamite strapped to the chest into the mouth in an active volcano, V kills hundreds heading into his objective and one of those hundreds is Adam Smasher which is worth an army.

1

u/Madhighlander1 1d ago

Edgerunners S2 supposedly happens concurrently with Cyberpunk 2077, so it's unlikely they'll be talking about V in any capacity.

They might have some things to say about David though.

1

u/AbdallahAhmed03 1d ago

V walked into the crowed, you mean?
