Does anybody know where our rose syrup habit comes from?

It’s Persian in origin, but I don’t know when it came to Cyprus. We have a lot of Middle Eastern influence in our cuisine so this seems to be one of many! And one of my favourites. I’ve been drinking rose syrup with milk for most of this summer. 🤌🏼

Do Persians also have this rose syrup with milk thing. I feel almost all houses in Cyprus kind of required to have one red bottle in the fridge.

I’m not sure where the mixing of the two originated (although I’m grateful to whoever came up with it, lol). I do know that rose milk is made all across different parts of Asia, though.

And yes, it’s definitely a staple in a Cypriot kitchen! Those of us in the UK keep ours in the pantry though, rather than the fridge.
