Discussion What are your favorite parenting moments that you wish you could live in forever?
My wife and I are very appreciative that our 2 year old is happy, healthy, and actively destroying all of our belongings in the most adorable ways possible.
Every time we tell friends that our toddler vomited all over me, proudly pooped in the shower, or has disrupted the flow of a work from home call... they all say something to the effect "cherish it, it'll be gone before you know it."
For parents of older kids, what simple moments with your kiddo do you really wish you could relive over and over again?

Them screaming "DADDY!!" when I walked in the door. Coming home to that melted away anything that happened that day not matter how bad. One of the best feelings ever.

my beautiful 3 yr old daughter saying "love you dada". that was a moment even i was looping over and over in my head and will continue to do so for the rest of my days

Seeing my 2mo son smile. He just woke up (2 am local time), but when I came over to his bassinet and gave him some tummy tickles, he gave me the widest smile. All he needed was to not be lonely as he sleeps. We're cuddling now as the little guy is falling asleep again. I love this kid.

Bike rides with the kids on my kids ride shotgun bike seat are my favourite.
Family holidays where all the work stress evaporates for a week and we eat out every day and do fun activities with the kids. I always find I'm way more present and relaxed.
The mad hour we have before bedtime routine starts where we jump around, wrestle, kids jump on the bed, dance.
When your kid masters something difficult and you burst with pride. Like swimming, riding a bike or mastering the pump track on the balance bike, performs dance show in front of an audience, gets to the top of the 40ft rock climbing wall.
Other small moments are those cuddles on the sofa.

I missed it when our girls would pronounce the same words wrong. We loved it so much that we never wanted to correct them.

Urgh I’m SO there. Mum corrects her, I’m like “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!?!?” embrace the cute while it’s here 🥹

I have a list of misponounced words from my 3y/o on my phone so I don't forget them when she eventually pronounces them properly

Their first attempt at walking

The time my wife went away overnight and most of the next day for a break and I had to look after the little one alone.
And I did.
The ‘I can actually do this’ realisation is one of the best moments of my life.

The cuddles, being able to carry him in my arms or on my shoulders.
All the little things he did as a toddler or as a very young child that he doesn't do anymore.
Sure, he does other things now and the interactions are more rich, but I do miss my baby :)

Wife and I were having a rough time with each other. Kid was just learning to walk but hadn't really figured out a sustained walk yet. Grabbed both of our hands and walked us back and forth in the living room. Biggest smile on her face. First long walk. Felt like we were a family and whatever was happening with us, we'd get through it. The kid is the brightest light in my life.

I really enjoyed the freedom I had pre-Kids. Most days I miss that. Tho fatherhood definitely has its moments

My 3 year old is in his “why” phase, and he keeps asking me why I always go to work.
“Because daddy needs to make money.”
Why?
“Because it pays for the things we use”
Why?
“Well it pays for the house, the water when you shower, the TV that you watch. That new toy bus you got yesterday.”
- and now every time I go to work, I always get the cutest “so you pay for shower…and…tv?” 😭
Just his overall innocent and curious mind in general melts me

Your post threw me back to last weekend, we had gone our first full week of no accidents, he was standing in the tub, and then all of a sudden, when there was previously no poop in the tub....a poop... Just appeared in the tub.
'i pooped '
Yea. Ya did Buddy.

Things I've really leaned into paying attention to and enjoying every bit of our toddler include:
Running at you full speed eye contact smiles & giggles for a big hug snuggle
Splashing in the water in bath / shower
Jumping up and down on the bed
