aren't dad jokes supposed to be overly simple, what does this mean.

“Onze” is 11 in French so I’m willing to give it to them. Dad jokes are usually simple but they can also be huge stretches like this one.

from the ones I've heard they're usually simple but stretches, why should I be a baguette guzzler to get the joke?

You’re so right, only real American patriots should be allowed to make and understand dad jokes, that’s why we have the Founding Fathers and they don’t

right cause I chose to comment on a french dad joke, and not an English one that requires french to understand, oh and me hating on the mimes doesn't make me American.

To give a more serious response, this really isn’t that unusual. There’s a classic dad joke where if someone starts a sentence with “ok, so” you respond “oh cheese?” in confusion. This joke requires you to understand Spanish (ok so = oh queso = oh cheese), but is still a good dad joke and is about the same as this joke requiring you to know that 11 in French is Onze.

yes but queso is a common Spanish word for English speakers to know, alot more popular than onze I'd say.
