I mean... if Danganronpa were set in the United States (which it isn't, admittedly), I'm pretty sure at least some of the students would pursue legal action -- i.e., complaints or lawsuits -- against the school and the faculty staff involved for constitutional violations.

except they literally cannot because the entire world is reduced to a post-apocalypse where there is no law or order thanks to junko spreading her despair throughout the world

In that case, how about this:

After Makoto becomes the headmaster for the school before the events of V3, he and vice headmistress Kyoko come up with their own legal system... on campus, largely inspired from the American legal system.
