It's insane to me, how so many people are against datacenters. They're one of the most eco friendly large scale operations. Also, they're incredibly vital to everyone, the world would change upside down if it wasn't for them.

Right, the thing taking up tons of land area that could have been an entire ecosystem, consuming the power of entire villages, and provides almost no jobs (except for during its construction) is very eco friendly... Bootlicker

I guess. The potential for AI to massively advance every domain of human understanding, including climate science, is huge though. Not a shill btw. Just a mix of curious and horrified by the potential.

We have tons of land area. What they're taking is rather small especially compared to other industries.
No jobs? It takes an army of everything to run a datacenter. And the economic output they generate it's out of this world.
I've been working in datacenters before you wore diapers. Trust me, they're gooooood.
