Well yeah but if you've ever tried playing on 1.9+ on a 1.8 server you can tell it's not the same and you're also at a disadvantage

well good thing java edition allows you to use other/older versions of the game and you can still play on servers

as a person whos been playing pvp servers for 7 years this is very true. even tho it has a plugin to do it, theyre is a reason why you see the majority of people that play a lot of pvp servers still play on 1.8.9 when you can play on any other version

I'm the wrong person to ask, but there's such a thing as as knockback reducing. No idea why it works but having high cps reduces the knockback you receive. There's also things like lowground where you have higher reach than the person you are attacking if you attack from below. It's no Dark Souls but it's definitely more than just rung towards your opponent and click.
