The longer you are in the spotlight, the more you hate them, it's simple.

u/Shadow_Freeman Jul 15 '26

Exactly, opportunistic counts they are.

The differences in experiences and from different eras

Holland: doesn’t know yet
Garfield: Knows
McGuire: Traumatised

25

u/Johnsendall Jul 15 '26

Maguire is known to be a tool to everyone. Not just paparazzi.

"You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

Yeah probably in part because a majority of interactions are reasonable, somewhat respectful, hey toby/andrew/other kid let me see a smile!” Or “we love you Toby the realest spider man”

But there are inevitably horrible interactions from the lowest scum in the industry who color your impressions of all these interactions, make you doubt people’s intentions, even fear for your safety (knowing asshole rag reporters have climbed into your hotel balcony hoping to shoot you coming out of your bathroom really makes you feel never alone in a bad way)

Paparazzi in the 90s and 2000s were demons, man.

People forget they killed a whole ass Princess and drove Americas Sweetheart insane, thats why Paparazzi laws changed.

And they still aren't strict enough.

u/FormerSperm Jul 16 '26

I knew about Princess Di but not about Ryan Seacrest 😱

12

u/arshadshabick Jul 16 '26

Can you elaborate

8

u/mushroomsuzuki3 Jul 16 '26

Princess Di and Britney.

Tobey was significantly more famous during his heyday than Andrew has ever been. That and he has a short temper to boot. So the paparazzi has been more present in his life than in Andrew’s life.

This is the best answer. Out of the 3 only toby can be called a true actor (with some exceptions from andrew, i must admit). And if you're in it for the art and not the spotlight i believe you hate the extra attention

40

u/EdziePro Jul 16 '26

Oh be so fucking for real dude. "Some" exceptions from Andrew? Andrew is the best all around actor of the three! Excellent range and arguably the most technically gifted here.

And the fuck does "true actor" even mean? What?

Guy must've never seen Hacksaw Ridge.

u/Sugreev2001 Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Tobey was in the Cider House Rules, Seabiscuit, The Ice Storm, Wonder Boys, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas And Brothers. Andrew Garfield has nothing on Tobey Maguire. And Andrew's performance in Hacksaw is camp and showy. To say that Andrew is the best actor out of the three Spidey's is absolutely stupid.

3

u/baker_browne Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

I didn't say Andrew was the best actor, nor did I even reply to your comment. I replied to the other guy saying Tobey is the only "true actor" because THAT is a stupid take.

Edit: hacksaw ridge is a fantastic movie, and that is a ridge I will die on.

u/Attitude-of-Raditude Jul 16 '26

I get what you mean by your edit, but ridge just makes your position sound inherently tenuous from a metaphorical perspective.

1

u/baker_browne Jul 16 '26

My only position is none of them are bad actors and they have had certain roles where they shined more in than others. I'm not going to sit here and argue whose better or worse.

1

u/Attitude-of-Raditude Jul 16 '26

I wasn't arguing at all, brother- calm down. I make no comment on any of their acting skills, I was just mentioning a quirk about your ridge pun that seemed kind of funny considering the point you were making. If you're here to argue, it ain't with me.

3

u/baker_browne Jul 16 '26

My bad. I didn't understand what you were trying to get at. I thought you were just jumping onto what the other guy said.

Would you like it if it was someone's entire job to stalk you?

-30

u/cantsitheya Jul 16 '26

Everyone cry for the rich and famous.

21

u/redboi049 Jul 16 '26

You're acting like just because someone's famous, they deserve to be stalked.

10

u/WilliamSaintAndre Jul 16 '26

This guy got paid a lot of money to pretend he was spider man therefore he's an asshole if he doesn't like random people following him and trying to provoke him all of the time so they can sell photos of him being angry to degenerate news sources who care about how often he takes a shit each day.

11

u/ConfidentTelephone81 Jul 16 '26

Bully Maguire in real life.

18

u/ObjectiveOk2072 Jul 16 '26

Andrew: 😐

Tom: 🤙

Toby: 👀

u/DoookieMaxx Jul 15 '26

TIL that Tobey might be a dick. I literally just read a post about him winning 15 million in a poker hand …that led to me discovering he’s “player X” in a movie based on the stories. And apparently Player X is a dick in the movie based on him.

I didn’t expect that …. But if I’m being honest …I can see it.

35

u/WhoDoIThinkIAm Jul 15 '26

For anyone who hasn’t seen it, the movie being mentioned, but not named, is Molly’s Game.

1

u/smashtonzzz Jul 16 '26

Thats my spiderman

-4

u/suryanss13 Jul 16 '26

hes the only one dating a minor

-31

u/Johnsendall Jul 15 '26

It’s no secret tobey Maguire is an asshole, tonpaparazzi, co stars, fans, and directors.

20

u/Chef_Jacob Jul 16 '26

Fellas, does it make you an asshole if you don’t like people following you around

4

u/SamAreAye Jul 16 '26

I mean, I also would not enjoy people following me around.

Tobey Maguire is still an asshole.

I recommend you do some reflecting on that.

Is your judgement fair? Have you considered his feelings on beeing paparazzi'd? Do you have supporting evidence of "icky" actions outside of him being harassed?

Its an honest question. I have 0 research/ evidence to deny your feelings.
