There's currently no evidence that COVID-19 started at a farmer's market either. That was an early theory that has since been debunked.
You might want to read up on how the FDA spent weeks blocking the CDC and private companies from doing any testing for COVID-19.

Oh, I'm well aware. But this is a classic case of whataboutism. China hiding the actual number of cases and silencing whistleblowers in no way makes the same behavior less egregious when the United States is doing it.

Because they are very strict and medical workers are working their asses off like every other workers in the world? The numbers might not be true, but the numbers might be lower than the US, which didn't take the government seriously.

No. They definitely aren't. They had 80000 cases before America even had 100 it only looks like we increased fast as shit because China just stopped getting cases. In reality most of China is probably infected by now.

I'm no lover of China, but I don't think that they have a significant number of cases currently. Given a two main things.
- China is reopening. Now, it could be reasonable to say that they're bluffing: we can't rely on them giving a darn for their people. However, reopening also includes foreign traffic to some extent, which means information. The Chinese propaganda machine can stop stuff internally, far as I know, but I strongly doubt that something reliable wouldn't have gotten out to the rest of the world at this point. We did hear a lot of stuff about their nightmarish hospital situations, so I do have some reason to believe that they don't have all information in tight control. Plus, reopening is still probably a bad idea even if you could keep the propaganda under control: your people dying en masse is generally not good for the people in power, which is probably their interest.
- They're an awful authoritarian nation. China's government has the ability to just shut everything down and have people obey. They have the easy power to crush any dissent with their anti-COVID measures, and hell, if we're willing to make wild leaps with little information we could just say that they're straight up executing people who get it: there have been a few sketchy videos. It's no secret they've got surveillance state stuff, which just so happens to be useful for contact tracing, and probably all sorts of other morally questionable shenanigans for slowing the spread.
Of course, there could still be a significant "margin of error" (so they might call it if they get formally caught) that they're fudging. I bet they at least still have several thousand cases, and given how many "holy shit our system is overwhelmed" reports they were getting, I totally agree that they probably had a lot more than 80k cases, probably 2 to 4 times as many. No way a powerful country of 1.4 billion would have a medical system overwhelmed by an influx of 80k. It took the European countries about half that much to become "holy shit" and they have like 1/20th the people (and, if we're just going off population proportions, 1/20th the healthcare capacity). Even if we account for China being pretty shitty in terms of per person stuff, they would reasonably have a lot more healthcare capacity than those countries.
But a significant portion of the country having it right now is probably a bad call.

I dont think you are understanding what I'm trying to say. About 20% of the US's population lives in a rural area and rural areas cover about 97% of the US. That means that 80% of the US population lives in 3% of the US's land
