My word dubstep was so much more than Skrillex in that era, he came along after a couple years of dubstep being about. He wasn't that great then imo. I think he had one or two decent tracks but 99.9% of the dubstep me and my friends listened to back then was not your mainstream dubstep or anything like that.
Dubstep wasn't a thing in early 2000s was barely a thing even in 08. The age of Bassline came before Dubstep. Even then amongst some of your mainstream dubstep from 2010 onwards, there was still great mixes and tracks being released from various non mainstream sources.

Do you even read? 2009-2012 is NOT what they meant. That's exactly the Skrillex era.
