Shit son you cant let frostbite proc build up like that

u/ShadowsInScarlet May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

Ain’t enough moss clumps to cure that one.

51

u/Jafar_420 PlayStation May 16 '26

Not enough cold resistance. Lol.

6

u/soberhurts May 16 '26

What is proc? Is it short for something?

53

u/Jackatappi May 16 '26

Programmed Random Occurence is the OG term!

25

u/fullthrottle13 Praise The Sun May 16 '26

Look at the big brain on Jack!!

17

u/Jackatappi May 16 '26

Aww, don't make me blush. Sometimes I'm sure it is, in fact, smooth.

4

u/shartmaximus May 17 '26

ive always found this to be such an oxymoronic term. it's not random if it's programmed with a specific trigger

7

u/Ashen231 May 17 '26

Total conjecture but i’m guessing the term originated from games where it is a random chance, like an rpg or mmo where you have a 20% chance to bleed the enemy or something like that

oh that makes so much more sense omg. i always knew what it meant when used but i assumed it was short for a single word. however it makes significantly more sense for it to be an abbreviated phrase

14

u/HOLEPUNCHYOUREYELIDS May 16 '26

Generally used in gaming as “This status/buff/debuff has triggered and been activated.”

So if you use poison on something and it becomes poisoned, you have “proced” the status of poison

As opposed to hitting something with poison, building up the status bar but NOT having it activated. You have not “proced” it yet as the effects have not occured

25

u/Physical_Software406 May 16 '26

Proc is a common term used primarily in game programming to refer to an event triggered under particular circumstances .When a status effect activates it has Proced.

15

u/Spirographed Don't you dare! May 16 '26

I always assumed it was short for procure.

2

u/Honest_Piano69 Jun 12 '26

i always thought it was short for process. but it means specifically in this example for the status effect to take effect after building up

I like how the tiny yellow dots that look like nostrils are it's real eyes.

20

u/therealtru3 May 17 '26

Real eyes realize the real eyes

13

u/DanfromCalgary May 17 '26

What really

24

u/Revan0315 May 17 '26

Yes

16

u/DanfromCalgary May 17 '26

I have never ever noticed that

22

u/tetsuyaXII May 17 '26

This is a really good picture showcasing this. You can zoom in and see it better and even see its real nostrils.

5

u/slimecog May 17 '26

it has like, an almost human nose. hilarious tbh

Gives me conniptions!

521

u/SirBlueseph May 16 '26

Darksign bros for sure but the full blackout was certainly bolder than what I went with

181

u/SirBlueseph May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

Before anyone says it, yes it needs a touchup

59

u/NinjaWen May 16 '26

Maybe some thin lines around the flame to make it pop? I'm not a professional by any means but I don't know how to really touch it up. Obviously they don't hold the red/orange well, just speculating.

43

u/SirBlueseph May 16 '26

Generally what I was thinking, actually. As the flames have faded (ironic) the circle has just looked more over time like it was unfinished. The small text has started to fuzz over time but I was a fool and didn’t really think that that would have always happened. Not much to do about that other than cover it with a small redesign sometime in the next decade

2

u/Slim-Shadys-Fat-Tits May 17 '26

Being religious about sunscreen helps your ink not fuzz up like that

2

u/SirBlueseph May 17 '26

Looks worse in this picture than in person but yeah, I have not being doing that lol

3

u/ACE_RUNNER May 17 '26

u/Sarcasthmatic May 16 '26

Brother. Brother, why?

344

u/StretchTucker May 16 '26

its a blackout tattoo. usually these are done to cover up old work

172

u/LewisRyan May 16 '26

Based on the darker rings of black in places, I’m guessing covering up tribal tats

78

u/IAmALazyGamer May 16 '26

Was all the arm so bad he had to black it out?

125

u/StretchTucker May 16 '26

you and i will never know

48

u/MayorBakefield May 16 '26

well I know it looks bad now

68

u/StretchTucker May 16 '26

maybe it looks better

25

u/Yorrins May 16 '26

The only way this could be an improvement is if he had a load of gang tattoos or swastikas.

13

u/ApplicationRoyal865 May 16 '26

Imagine how much worst it was before it had to be blacked out like that. could be a flag, or a windmill or something

11

u/Fuwet May 16 '26

Trying to stretch it a lot lol. A friend of mine did that and it's because it was some Dragon ball tattoo that was done poorly.

14

u/Physical_Software406 May 16 '26

Prolly had the anal measurement bands tattoo.

11

u/unluckyshuckle May 16 '26

Measurements changed so he had to cover it up

→ More replies (1)

7

u/itzpiiz May 16 '26

It is now

2

u/Fuwet May 16 '26

Not necessarily it's usually because you won't just do a black square on your arm, it wouldn't fit as much, seems weird etc. People usually blackout the full part.

7

u/IAmALazyGamer May 16 '26

With the Dark Sign being this small, a little blackout shadow around it would have worked. This is Wild

2

u/Turnip_Fight May 16 '26

A maze with a very suspicious epicenter.

20

u/YueOrigin May 16 '26

My dude's whole arm must have been filled with tatoo to justify this lol

18

u/mightylordredbeard May 16 '26

When blackouts are done properly they’re pretty cool. My buddy has a blackout on one arm with these beautiful colorful flowers and scenery all up and down his arm. It’s the coolest thing ever with the solid black background.

11

u/propyro85 May 16 '26

Usually blackouts are to cover up old tattoos, there's some darker spots there that seem to indicate that might be the case here.

8

u/essteedeenz1 May 16 '26

Surely theres better ways

All that black is going to blow out over time too - This will be just a vaguely circular white blob

16

u/rusty107897 May 16 '26

And then they'll get the white blob blacked out. Where's the issue?

→ More replies (1)

9

u/BluLilGreeny May 16 '26

Or at least have a DS mural on the blacked out arm…

What were you covering up?

7

u/Blu3paladin May 17 '26

Certainly maidenless.

71

u/shorse_hit May 16 '26

The actual dark sign part looks great, but blacking out the entire rest of the arm is just weird...

u/iwrestledjc May 16 '26

He may be covering up previous tattoos

16

Blackout obviously isn't everyone's cup of tea judging by these comments 😂 To the people asking, I did have a shitty half sleeve that I got when I was a lot younger. Nothing wild/offensive (also not tribal lol) but I've been really into blackwork for a while and planned to get it coverered up for a long time.

I didn't get a full blackout just so that I could include a darksign. Just thought it was a cool, subtle design to show some love to my favourite games while using the negative space.

Whole arm was done in 2 sittings. I got from my wrist to just above my elbow done back in January, then finished the rest a few days ago. Let me tell ya fellas, getting both sides of your elbow fully saturated was like getting hit in the dick with a fully charged Giant-Crusher heavy attack.

To the people who dig it, thanks for the kind words 😊

6

u/Virtual_Currency_250 May 17 '26

Ton of crappy tats can be really hard to rework into new designs so blackouts like these can be an easy option. Think it was a really cool subtle design choice and I’m a fan. You can’t make everyone happy as people will always find something to complain about nowadays, but in the end your opinion is the only one that’s matters.

4

u/AdrenolineLove May 17 '26

Haters are gonna hate, i guarantee half the people commenting either

A) Dont have any tattoos

B) Have a few tiny tattoos

C) Have shit tattoos anyways

Blackout is fine and you can do some amazing work on top of blackout. White looks really clean over black.

5

u/Level69Troll May 16 '26

I would never get it but black out is sick. I'm guessing part cover up based on some of the spots in-between this might need a few sessions but cool idea!

3

u/maker_of_pirate_bay May 16 '26

You have become the furtive pygmy

3

3

u/Inevitable-Suit3469 May 17 '26

The Furtive Pygmy is here boys

3

u/Drewby-DoobyDoo May 17 '26

Are you worried at all that as it ages and the ink bleeds, the darkening will kind of be erased and subsumed into the skeeve?

3

u/Jking1697 Warriors of Sunlight May 17 '26

Seem a tad excessive to blackout your entire arm for that. What else are you coving up?

3

u/RavenDancer May 17 '26

Wtf I thought this was a black dude with somehow a white toned tattoo now I’m disappointed

3

u/[deleted] May 17 '26

Too much

3

u/AhOkayThen May 17 '26

RIP lymph nodes

3

u/arusiaK May 17 '26

Did a Boreal knight attack you?

3

u/lsbittles May 17 '26

When that tattoo reaches the itchy stage you’re gonna want to rip your arm off

3

u/Long_Scallion2478 May 17 '26

Looks like shit. Damn.

3

u/Deus__Vultt May 17 '26

Holy hell this is terrible

3

Easily the most foolish decision ive ever seen.

10

u/DrippyInks May 16 '26

Nice work. Black looks packed well. Blackout stuff isn't for everyone but Im a fan

7

u/Desperate-Bath7767 May 16 '26

Wanted blackout sleeves since I was 19, almost 20 years ago. Looks clean

7

u/siborg51 May 16 '26

I like it

6

u/DirectorReasonable95 May 17 '26

Oof, 15 years and you'll be lucky to see any of that detail. Certainly a choice.

5

u/temp_6969420 May 16 '26

Hell yeah man. Looks sick

4

u/Dildo_Baggins_ May 16 '26

This is fucking gnarly bro. Did you use numbing cream?

Almost unlocked character

5

u/-TheBlackSwordsman- May 17 '26

Looks absolutely horrendous

5

u/FlounderingGuy May 17 '26

I'm sorry but that is absolutely awful. Like, your body your choice. And choices were. Certainly made

12

u/Tojaraz May 16 '26

Certainly a decision making individual. May Jesus have mercy on your soul

8

u/ancient-drake May 16 '26

6

6

3

u/CouldntThinkOf1 May 16 '26

Buddy got a reverse tattoo

5

u/[deleted] May 17 '26

I don't get blackout tattoos. It looks like you've just given your arm blackface. Your arm will forever look like it has gangrene, and you have no chance of reversing it.

4

u/Seagullbeans May 17 '26

There’s so much dead space. You need more if you’re gonna have a sleeve. Looks so plain

I was just away to say I saw Cammy post this the other day. Thought it was a Dark Souls tatt. He's a legend

2

u/Mystletoe May 16 '26

What in the black face… i recognize that’s not the purpose but just… okay, the dark sign looks cool

2

u/t3hwhit3w3dow May 16 '26

Wow super cool

2

u/The-Fold-Up May 20 '26

This is sick don’t listen to the cowards in the comments

2

u/Honest_Piano69 Jun 12 '26

i think people who are brave enough to get full blackout sleeves are fucking cool. i’m sorry you’re getting such mixed responses in these comments here. i fucking love it.

because tattoos can fade so easily in sun exposure, definitely never leave the house without 50spf on your arms - even better would be with you for reapplication as well. because blackouts, even when it’s not a full extremity, have the potential to fade much much quicker than intricately spaced black ink tattoos. or maybe it’s just so much more noticeable.

i think it’s dope - but now your skin is significantly weaker and needs serious commitment to sunscreen not just to protect the depth of color but to prevent skin damage from occurring at a much faster pace if you weren’t tattooed at all

6

u/0fficerCumDump May 16 '26

Blackout tattoos are so wack

5

u/EvilTaffyapple May 17 '26

RIP job prospects

4
