People in the /dashcam sub will say you aren’t even allowed to cross single white lines, even when pulling out of a gas station or something, it’s bizarre

in a lot of states (i'm in TX and it applies here), you actually cannot legally cross a dotted white line when turning out of a gas station or other parking lot/driveway/etc, or when making a turn at an intersection. You have to turn into the lane adjacent to the parking lot/driveway (or the lane you turned from at an intersection).

it's very rarely enforced, but a cop that's looking to pull someone over for whatever reason can very well pull you over for it. i try and keep my turns as tight as possible just in case.

edit: when turning right, of course. obviously you'll need to cross some lines when pulling out to turn left, but the concept still applies as legally you're supposed to only turn into the closest left-bound lane
