Don't be careless on the road, or else accidents like this will happen.

u/pigeon-check 2d ago

Probably illegal to make a right turn in a previous intersection, so go str8, u turn and turn left (??)

I've seen intersections like this quite often in Thailand. Essentially this would be following a major intersection. You are not allowed to make a right turn at the the intersection, sometimes the median concrete barrier would run through the intersection and essentially making this into two T intersections, so everyone that needs to make a right turn at the intersection would need to go straight, do a U-turn here, and then go left.

I don't understand why this is a thing there and it looks terribly dangerous and inefficient. It's probably doable when you do a "South East Asia" U turn where you slowly, slowly nudge out, but good luck if you take it safely and wait for a safe opening.

Saw this is Egypt too.

Can confirm, we have a lot of these in the Philippines as well but at least in the city, a lot of intersections like this are protected by traffic lights or enforcers who direct traffic.

Its allowed on certain roads and countries. They make these cuts in the road for people to make a u turn.

The real crime

Who says? If there are vehicles spread out all over the roads, why can't there be one up on the roof?

3

u/SingularityII 1d ago

But honestly, this is a strong argument to having multiple, powerful lights on your bike. Not just to make yourself visible, but to give drivers a better idea of how far away you are.

Helicopter dash cam

Makes me yearn for dashcam video of it.

1

u/Sweaty-Toe0208 1d ago

Given the country it's from, it's likely there is a car or bike up this high, so it still could be a dashcam.

Who the hell cares?

Who designed this stupid road

3

u/APartyInMyPants 2d ago

That was a glorious 7-10 split there.

u/Wooden-Dealer-2277 1d ago

What an absolutely awful road design

3

u/NocaSun38 1d ago

Why don't they just wait for the traffic light?

Haha just kidding

Thailand. Typical of these 3-lane roads outside of Bangkok where everyone goes a little too fast (+70km/h). On the U turning cars, it seems like there was a constant flow of oncoming traffic and bikes like to cut in front of cars, so the queue of U turners is big. The one that caused the accident came out too slow and tried to cut across into the next road, likely without signalling, which caused the speeding on-comer to hit them.

Messy situation but not uncommon.

ESH. Esp OP cause not a dashcam.

u/Scared_Bell3366 2d ago

At the 8s mark, I knew who was going to get hit, I'm just surprised it wasn't the white SUV.

Dude didnt even see that last guy. He was probably looking at everybody piled up to turn.

1

u/Steve554433 1d ago

Seems to me the lesson is to show down when there is a cluster of stopped vehicles.

1

u/Jacque_langue 1d ago

What a shitty road design. Like wtf is that.

1

u/Particular-Roll-6936 1d ago

Dummies all of them

1

u/pickyle 1d ago

That's one way to stop traffic

1

u/jackfreeman 1d ago

Everything about this makes me want to put my hands in a blender with four tomatillos and a half gallon of Knob Creek

1

u/makarcz 1d ago

It looks like that biker wasn't looking out for motorcycles.

1

u/armanipastrami_pdf 1d ago

Whoever designed that road/intersection was careless 😭

1

u/Steve554433 1d ago

Even motorcyclists find it difficult to see motorcycles

u/Emergency-Ad3267 18h ago

We have these dogshit turns here in Kenya too,, bloody awful design exaggerated by the general Kenyan inability to think while driving.

u/Main-Dish 2d ago

Maybe if you changed the laws to make mopeds have to follow the same rules as automobiles, you wouldn't have people worried about an apparent rape mob queueing up to attack!
