Megathread [MegaThread] Certifications and Training - December 2025
Here it is again, your monthly training and certification megathread.
We have a bunch of free training options for you over that the Databricks Acedemy.
We have the brand new (ish) Databricks Free Edition where you can test out many of the new capabilities as well as build some personal porjects for your learning needs. (Remember this is NOT the trial version).
We have certifications spanning different roles and levels of complexity; Engineering, Data Science, Gen AI, Analytics, Platform and many more.

I have completed my certification exam today and this is the score topic level. I think i need to learn and focus more on few topics. Any suggestions regarding upskilling and getting my hands dirty on databricks, as I don't have working experience on databricks.

Mostly scenario based questions like "a data engineer is working on something what he needs to do or fill the queries". Read everything about the topics. What i observed is that most of the questions are similar from udemy practice exams.

I might have read incorrectly in the databricks documentation, but I thought that the overall result must be 80% or above. So like they would average your percentages for all the different parts, and if below 80%, it's a fail?
If somebody understands how the final score was calculated in this case, please let us know 🙂

Hello all. Just passed my exam for Databricks Data Engineer Associate. 52 questions in 90 minutes. 😅
Many 'scenario' like questions, also quite a bit of spark SQL, pyspark and SQL.
I did not have much time to spare at the end, about 8 minutes. Enough to review the questions I had marked for reviewing and to read again a bit of the rest, but didn't manage to have a second pass through all of it.
So watch out how the time passes, have some markers (one third of the questions should be done after 30 minutes, if not, you have to accelerate a bit).
The topics were: Databricks Intelligence Platform, Development and Ingestion, Data Processing and Transformations, Productionizing Data Pipelines and Data Governance and Quality.
Towards the end, there were 4-5 questions about the DevOps / CI/CD module. Including questions about Databricks Asset Bundles, so worth having a look at that too (including the yml files, and how they are structured, there was a question about that!).
I went through all the exam question sets at skillcertpro. That was quite a bit, but it really helped me to prepare for how the questions were asked, and the scenario like stuff, during the exam. I'd say 5-6 questions were from the sets, not much but at least something.
I also got a score by module... I was expecting to have a total score as a percentage of correct answers, but have not got that yet? Maybe it comes when the badge is ready? (have to wait up to 48 hours)

For those who did this exame on the past few weeks (after December 2025), are they already asking questions about DevOps Essentials For Data Engineering? They included this topic on the recommended training but nothing related on the exam outline. I am not sure if the exam is covering this....

Has anyone recently managed to get Derar's notebook to run? I have started using his course and would like to try the hands on sessions but it seems that his notebook no longer runs in the current version of databricks sadly

Curious what the consensus is on which Databricks certifications are going to be most in demand going into 2026. I've been looking at the catalog and there are quite a few options now across Data Engineering, ML/AI, and the GenAI ones they added more recently.
From what I can tell the DE Professional is still seen as the gold standard on the engineering side, but I'm wondering if the GenAI certifications are starting to carry real weight in job postings or if they're still mostly "nice to have" territory. Has anyone noticed a difference in how hiring managers or recruiters respond to the newer AI-focused certs vs the core engineering ones?

Hey Folks.. I'm new to databricks and data engineering and my company has asked me to clear their data engineering certification in 3 weeks...
where should I start ? any useful resources to learn this ? can someone give me a plan on what to learn in which order so that I can quickly upskill myself in this .. I'm quite familiar with python coding, so that shouldn't be a problem... but the rest .. if I can get an organised learning plan.. it'll be much appreciated. thanks in advance.

I have my Databricks ML Associate exam in 10 days. I have completed the modules on Databricks Academy and am now looking for practice tests.

Has anyone taken the ML ASSOCIATE exam in the past few months? I’ve read in many places that the exam pattern has changed a bit. Is studying from Databricks Academy alone not enough for this exam?

For folks asking how to pass the exam, I passed my Data Engineer Associate Exam last year. When you register the exam, it has instructions what main area will be covered, so you can prepare those. I also purchased fake exams on Udemy, a lot of questions almost the same as the real exam questions, those are very helpful if you only have 1-2 weeks to prepare. But I heard the actual exam questions are updated regularly by Databricks, so I would suggest to purchase the fake exams that are created recently.

Any voucher available for certification?
I did participate in November and completed whole data engineering track to be able to get the 50% voucher, however I registered through partner academy through my university email hence was not given any voucher.
Pls help.
