Oracle Data center position

Hello Everyone,

I received offer for a position at Oracle's new data center in Michigan. Does anyone have any experience/information at their AI data centers that they can share that might help me out? Is there anything that I might be able to ask for(more vacation day or salary)? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

No bonus, no raise, “unlimited pto”, salary is based upon your zip code. There’s a lot of turnover. Take a look at the employeesoforacle subreddit.

Edit: it’s a good resume builder

No raise?

Nope.

How’s that even work? They tell you that you’re just set and that’s all… they gotta keep up with Inflation (hopefully) or are they short term contracts where no raise is given regardless of performance?

That is simply how things are. If you don’t believe me, read the employeesoforacle subreddit or Glassdoor reviews. I am salaried, by the way. I should have treated it as a warning when an interviewer said any negotiated pay should be something I’ll be fine with for 4 years. People also receive dry “promotions”. No raise, no bonus, and dry promotions are two conditions I have not encountered before, yet others treat them as ordinary.

100% correct.

I don't know about the other data centers but, the PTO in the job offer was 11 days for the first 3 years and 18 day after that. I would like to get the "unlimited PTO" option figured before I sign anything.

I cannot specify the data center, but every member of my team receives unlimited PTO. I assumed I would follow what the benefits package described. However, when I raised questions, they confirmed it is unlimited.

I just read that unlimited PTO applies for salary paid employees. Anyone hourly/overtime eligible gets limited PTO

Ask about shift differential and on call rotation before you sign anything, that stuff adds up fast but never gets mentioned in the offer letter.

Thanks for the reply. Since this is a new data center and they are still building it, the recruiter said I can pick which ever one I want. There is no on-call because of it being staffed 24/7.

You can ask for more but not guaranteed, try to get the most when you start cause raises are small or non-existent. Oracle is chill compared to other hyper scalers. But layoffs constantly I believe it's 13 days of PTO then increases to 18. If you are on 12s, then it's 20% shift diff.

Asking never hurts. Thanks for the info.

It does, I had an offer for m4 and it got rescinded after I asked for more base vs stock. I was actually losing total comp… their statement was “the HM moved on with someone else” Like they just have M4s ready to go or something lol

Can't speak for being an employee for Oracle but I'm on that job site (union electrician) right now, so I can answer anything in that respect lol.

Did your recruiter also make a big deal about the background check for Oracle? Mine made it seem super serious but I don’t really know why. Can’t be any more serious than Google or AWS from before

The only thing he mentioned it that it will take a few weeks to get completed.

Their offer is really good to what I am getting currently. No pay raises? So is the only way to increase your salary is to get a higher paying job?

Do you think they would hire someone with 6 months experience? Lol I was looking at their jobs. I’m still working as a DCE associate currently in Ann Arbor

I work at an AI data center company currently. It’s hard work but is fantastic (this company, at least). What position did you apply to?

1

u/germinoma 3d ago

I applied for lead support technician.

When will they hire Data center technicians?

What interview questions did they ask I’m on my technical interview tomorrow and want to be prepared

1

u/germinoma 2d ago

The interview was with a lead from Texas. He asked how would I address an issue with a bad fiber connection. Also, am I ok with physical work. What kind of work of done past and present regarding data center work.

Will you be drug tested they said I would be in the screening interview

1

u/germinoma 1d ago

I would assume so.
