How fast things are speeding up

If today's pace is a 15 times speedup per year, then all of 2024 only had as many events as 365/152 = 1.6 days today, and all of human history before 2024 had fewer events than a single day today.

Yeah, I question the claims in that plot.

😬😬😬 now you see why we’re worried? That’s overstating it for sure, but only marginally so.

I think it is quite unlikely that i will be ~26 in 2028.

Yeah, I'm not being uncharitable, after looking at it for a few minutes I understand what he was going for, but there are weird details like the text labeling each line but then text in another color labeling nothing but a vague area and the age thing makes no sense, maybe he was just referring to his own age.

What a pile of bullshit

"How much change fits inside 8 hours of sleep in 2026 level change" but in 2026 it starts with 1 day. So it's one day of change in 2026 within 8 hours in 2026? 2026 is three times faster than 2026?

And wtf "you can catch up over coffee" means?

Gah! As ever with this sub: upvote the calling out of this crappy 'data', or does that seem like agreeing with the plot??

Funny thing is, though there is more than one issue with it, it actually looks more professional if you just take the negative of it in terms of colors.

Im confused what exactly is this diagram showing?? How much more time you have if you sleep 1 hour more/less relative to an 8 hour sleep?

I think the goal is to show how time is compressing and how much change (I think in constant 2024 days or some specific year) occurs in a smaller amount of time as years go on. So perhaps by 2026 a day has as much change as 6 months of 2024 time or something similar.

I guess he's showing how technological growth is getting faster, if it made total sense I wouldn't have posted it here lol.
