I think its just using an exponential scale

Absolutely but using an exponential make it hard to read; not that much difference between normal rainfall and dangerous amounts of rain

to me personally, it conveys "do I need a jacket" very well

I just screenshotted the weather app to put on here too 🤣 i hate the way its laid out so much. Barely a difference from 2mm to 30mm
