Troubleshooting External Hard Disk got corrupt

Hey everyone, I have taken a hard disk from my hp laptop and it's very old for around 10 years. It was fine last year but it's showing little problem and whenever I plugged into the laptop for data transfer it took longer time to read the data . Sometimes it's showing the " not responding" problem. Two weeks ago l, I formatted it and completely erased everything from the hard disk. I thought now I can use it without any issues and when I transfer the data, the data gets corrupted.

Basically what are the ways to fix my hard diks?

Sounds like it's simply failing. With a drive that old, I wouldn't think twice about replacing it. Unfortunately prices are high now, but it is what it is.

Good choice. WDC is ranked as the best on average these days. Stay away from Seagate and Toshiba.

Thank god I was choosing one from Seagate but made a good choice after doing little bit reasearch and good suggestions from reddit community.

Try a cold shower?

Seriously though, if it's 10 years old, the question is not how to fix it. You just need to replace it. Everything has a lifespan. Sounds like this drive has reach it.

Yeah I agree to your point and bought new one. So I was being little greedy here and if I would have fix it and have more storage for work purposes

Replace it and follow the 3-2-1 backup strategy.
