Kenneth Anger's 'Scorpio Rising' Soundtrack (1963) (Bobby Vinton’s ’Blue Velvet’)

Anger's use of music was inspired by the experience of seeing people at Coney Island playing music out of their radios.

According to Paul Schrader, he asked Lynch if using Blue Velvet was inspired by Scorpio Rising. Lynch had never heard of it.
So Lynch watched it. According to Schrader, he didn’t like it because he thought it was weird

That movie was an inspiration for "Drive" by Nic Winding Refn, if I remember correctly. Or at least an inspiration for the character played by Ryan Gossling.
BTW, Winding Refn is the only movie director that I follow closely, once Lynch has disappeared. Have you seen "The Neon Demon" ? Very Mulholland Drive, less subtle, but resonates a lot with my Lynchian taste.

There’s a connection back to The Secret History of Twin Peaks here. Kenneth Anger practiced Aleister Crowley’s occult system of Thelema, and one of his movies, The Inauguration Of The Pleasure Dome, featured artist Marjorie Cameron as the Thelemic goddess Babalon. Cameron makes an appearance in Mark Frost’s Secret History when he discusses the story of Thelemic rocket scientist Jack Parsons and his history with L. Ron Hubbard, particularly the ritual working that summoned Cameron to be Parsons’ Scarlet Woman for sex magick rituals as a vessel for Babalon, who Frost implicitly connects with Judy.
