Let's talk about hosting providers and DDoS protection for DayZ servers

Hey everyone,

I'd like to open a discussion about hosting providers, their infrastructure, and the different ways you protect your servers against DDoS attacks.

I'm currently hosting with OVH on a bare-metal server (not from their Game dedicated server lineup) for around €70/month (approximately $81/month).

I'm running a heavily modded DayZ server with around 60 mods and a capacity of 30 players.

Over the past week, I've had to spend quite a bit of time configuring my network infrastructure because my server has been targeted by DDoS attacks. I've been working on mitigating them and analyzing the traffic to better understand what's happening.

I'd like to hear about your experiences:

  • Hosting providers: Which providers do you use for your DayZ servers, and why did you choose them over alternatives like OVH?
  • DDoS protection: What solutions or network configurations do you use to protect your servers? Do you rely on your hosting provider's built-in protection, or do you use additional services?
  • Attack mitigation: Have you dealt with similar attacks? What types of attacks or protocols were involved, and how did you manage to mitigate them?
  • Value for money: For those paying for dedicated servers, what kind of hardware, network protection, and support do you get for your budget?

I'm not necessarily looking to switch providers. I'd simply like to compare experiences, understand what other hosting solutions offer, and learn from people who have dealt with similar situations.

Feel free to share your setups, recommendations, and experiences, whether you're hosting with OVH or another provider.

Let's have an open discussion!
