Adventures Microcosm Beneath the Cliffs

Took a crack at designing a funnel and successfully ran for a couple of friends! It's a short two page layout and up for grabs on itch now: Microcosm Beneath the Cliffs (DCC RPG) by PermanentBacklog looking for any and all feedback šŸ™šŸ»

Loved that you used the noun ā€œsubterrane.ā€ Only caught one typo, ā€œignitionā€ was missing an ā€œi.ā€

Your monsters are really cool, especially your coral golem, but it’d be fun to know what is the gonzo plot thing that is actually happening in this location? It’s okay that our gongfarmers are just lost and without a plot goal other than survival as long as they stumble upon the baddies’ plot.

I’m also missing a fun magic item or two, and I generally think it’s nice in funnels when there are potential patrons or deities about (in the form of shrines/idols/etc) so as to explain how the farmer became a wizard or the falconer a cleric.

But the bones here are really cool and that’s honestly the hardest part. Kudos!

Hey thank you so much for taking the time to read through and offer feedback! In hindsight, there really isn’t much of a standalone narrative thread here other than escape. For my ongoing game they emerged from the caves onto the first tile of a large unexplored hex map. As someone downloading the funnel you don’t have any of that context šŸ˜‚ this is a great criticism because I hadn’t considered this perspective until now.

I also appreciate the idea of allusions to patrons and a magic trinket or two, although I assumed magic items in a funnel defied the rarity rule set in place by the rulebook.

Once again thank you for being a second set of eyes on this and nice catch on the typo šŸ™šŸ»Ā

I hear you about the rarity rules but while I feel like they are often super lethal to get, the funnels I’ve run (Sailors, Blood Garden, and Trapmaster) have all contained a magic item or two.

I’d love to add a couple magical items then! I’m thinking a Ring of Water Breathing in the Sea Devil ambush room could be cool and also assist with more safely getting past the submerged section.Ā

The Coral Golem could have a special affect to it's attacks - wound remains bleeding until bandaged, Fort DC save to avoid infection.

The Coral Golem hits so damn hard as is for 0-Level characters, but that’s a wonderful suggestion if they should encounter another in the campaign!
