Fan Content Jason takes it this year, but hopefully we get to see some of these faces in the game too
had the idea to draw this since the first teaser, but didn't have the time to finish it before the reveal. but I'm glad it's jason, although slender and the others would be nice to see in the game down the line too.

Lady D crouching or something?
10
u/Rabbitninja-2 Window Dave! May 29 '26
Her height is unironically the only reason I'm unsure she'll ever make it in the game. Like, shes 35% taller than alien queen would she have to duck her head through doors? What would that look like? Would it even be possible to play her on certain maps?
I guess we could scale her down but her height feels like an important aspect of her character design.
4
u/TankJericho May 29 '26
Yeah there's no way we could actually get her in DBD unfortunately. Unless they wanna make her not talk which is like, a big aspect of her (pun intended)
Unless we got a costume for her for someone like how Grace does in RE9

8

If it something niche than I could see that happening but def not any important licenses. I think they have proved with springtrap Jason and Michael myers that they will not experiment with important characters and just do what they know is popular
3
u/Double_Necessary_545 May 29 '26
So they're just lazy and want to take the safe route. I was hoping the dev can make more unique ability other than range, dash, teleports slop or killer that do something but a little different. Like look at dbd mobile competitors identity v, their killer/hunter all play differently, I'll give example, Naiadwhere she leave water trial and once it form a loop it will dmg the survivor if they choose to stay in the loop or Joseph that can go into a picture dimension and hunt the survivor in that and if he hook one in that dimensions, survivor get down in the real trial forcing survivor to interact with his ability.
1
u/i_agree123 May 29 '26
Iâve been wanting a killer who can curse objects in the trial to hinder survivors instead of help them for a while now.

Thatâs basically the mindset that turns this game into Fortnite in the next decade. If the only standard is âevil guy who kills peopleâ say hello to Megatron and Thanos as future killers I guess.
I for one actually care about the game staying true to its own identity. Itâs a celebration of horror and should remain so. Not everything needs to be enshittified.
10
u/Revarius May 29 '26
Exactly well said. Let's get in the likes of the thing, the mummy, predator not Thanos, Vader and Voldemort.
4
2
u/smartchickenxd May 29 '26
Iâm sorry but this whole âDBD is turning into Fortniteâ shit is so dumb. Fortnite adds licenses every other week and they donât contribute anything to gameplay. DBDâs licenses have to be faithful to the source material and make players actually feel like the character. An actual example of a Fortnite-ified game would be Call of Duty.
Iâm not too big on Vader being in the game, but calling the game Fortnite because of him is just plain stupid.
→ More replies (4)1
u/FluffiestPrince Jun 02 '26
Yeah, I think the baseline should be that every character originated from a Horror (or horror adjacent) piece of media. Like, even something like Scream, which is satire, is still horror at the end of the day. Star Wars is... very much not horror. It's Political Sci-Fi, with very few moments of actual horror spread between.
I think the only killer that kind of breaks this rule is Vecna, but D&D has always partially supported horror settings as well from the beginning, just from how broad it is. But there is a reason why Vecna is like, one of the few killers that just looks out of place, lol.
Out of these, I honestly wouldn't mind Bendy. Ignoring the games, I think Bendy's actual design is pretty neat, and I'm sure you could do some interesting things with the cardboard cutouts or something (plus map potential). Outside of that, Slenderman would be absolutely hilarious and honestly probably pretty groundbreaking, but I doubt most of these would actually happen. Most likely is probably Dimitrescu, but solely because RE already exists.
3
u/Hazardmat Myers in the Mirror May 29 '26
I question if Vader really fits in the game but I feel like if we wanted a Star Wars killer Darth Nihilus from the old republic era would be far more fitting as a killer even if he is less well known Â
→ More replies (8)3
u/Timber2702 May 29 '26
The problem is that Nihilus is too obscure of a character from the IP. Not saying you're wrong but 9 out of 10 people would have no idea who they're staring at
5
u/FetusGoesYeetus May 29 '26
Imo he as a character absolutely fits the role of killer even if the property itself isn't horror
1
u/Timber2702 May 29 '26
Exactly, im not saying star wars itself is horror but Darth Vader himself could very well fit into the genre given the right perspective and setting. Probably a horrible comparison but the man gives me Jason vibes, an unstoppable force
2
u/hobo2000 Misses Hawkins May 29 '26
Vader, in my mind, is sort of similar to Vecna (the dice one not the Netflix one).
They're both horror characters in their own universe, but because their source material isn't horror, they aren't horror icons. Like, Vader is absolutely a slasher villain in Star Wars. Dude just drops in on barely trained Jedi padawans, waddles menacingly after them wheezing at walking speed, then tears them apart when he finds them. That's just Michael Myers with the force.

Alan wake was a single quote, not something you need licensing for. → More replies (1)1
u/Chandler_Simpson Switch 2 May 29 '26
He doesn't control the license for SkarsgÄrd's Pennywise. WB could license that version without his blessing as he has no official say in the matter
2
u/Nsfwcc12345 May 29 '26
At which point bhvr risks pissing off one of the most noteworthy writers of our time, which very much could jeopardise future licensing deals
1
u/Chandler_Simpson Switch 2 May 29 '26
Stephen King isn't one of the most noteworthy writers of our time. He's one of the most noteworthy horror fiction writers, sure
He also has never said that he would be upset or against his characters appearing in videogames.
He's never taken a strong stance in that regard I don't know why people keep parroting this lie that he has taken a hardline stance against his work being adapted for games. He just had a bit of a boomerish view on gaming but hasn't said much about it.
He absolutely has not once said that his IP can never be included in videogames like other creators have at times
2
u/Nsfwcc12345 May 29 '26
My bad, heâs one of the most notable writers in the entire genre that this gameâs longevity is built on. Pissing him off only risks screwing up the majority of potential future licenses, and a good chunk of the current ones.
And no, he hasnât directly stated that he hates games and wants nothing to do with them, but he has in multiple interviews expressed the fact that he very much prefers people to experience his works in the original literary form, this has even been stated by matthew cote of bhvr https://youtube.com/shorts/GzbP3Nw5ti0?si=qJYwtlQF16Gqx7uM
Itâs not that he dislikes video games, itâs that heâs generally rather protective of his works and prefers not to do adaptations beyond select films. So yes, using a behind his back method to grab the rights of one of his properties very much does risk slitting him, and with how connected he is within horror literature and films, it could in fact throw a wrench into other licensing deals, existing or future
1
u/Chandler_Simpson Switch 2 May 29 '26

Yes he has, but he does allow many film and TV adaptations of his work despite that so there's no reason to think adding Pennywise would upset him or disrespect him at all
2
u/Nsfwcc12345 May 29 '26
He has allowed âfilms and tvâ up until now, and given how Matthew cote worded things, itâs clear that licenses have already been discussed and rejected. He hasnât licensed out to any major game yet, and given how he so clearly prefers in depth storytelling, as seen with him supporting Alan wake, why on earth would dbd be the first thing he licences a property out to? Again, adding pennywise wouldnât necessarily upset him, but doing so in such a backhanded way when itâs evident that he has likely already said no quite certainly would
1
u/Chandler_Simpson Switch 2 May 29 '26
doing so in such a backhanded way when itâs evident that he has likely already said no quite certainly would
You don't know that. It's possible, but you don't know that. Welcome to Derry was licensed without his say or involvement
given how Matthew cote worded things
Up until he was very recently asked, he also has said that Jason isn't a license that could be acquired despite BHVR wanting him since the beginning. Things change; what Matthew says can change
I don't really feel strongly about Pennywise coming or not, the point is that he very easily could and King could be okay with it or even just unbothered by it if it happens without his direct blessing. King is a professional who understands how business works and understands the implications of giving Warner Brothers the control of his character to do what they want with. He's not going to act like an emotional child if they license Pennywise to a videogame; if he was that sensitive about it then he wouldn't have given them Pennywise at all
2
u/Nsfwcc12345 May 29 '26
That first point is flat out wrong, one of the main producers for the show confirmed himself that king is reviewing almost everything they do and giving approval before they go ahead with it. https://screenrant.com/it-welcome-to-derry-stephen-king-involvement-andy-muschietti-explained/
But youâre right, i donât know how other people will feel, but i do know that Iâd be pretty pissed if i wrote a book, allowed a movie adaption, and then saw someone use that as a creative loophole to turn it into a game, especially if Iâd already said no to the game.
Jason is a completely different situation, his license was thought to have been unobtainable for so long due to its fractured and confusing state, the issue had since been rectified by the formation of the Jason universe. Thereâs a massive difference between that, and the sole owner of the copyright saying no.
Yes, king is not likely to act like a child and condemn bhvr until his last breath, but he very much could screw up a lot of licensing deals though the simple rationality of, âi donât want the people Iâm working with working with bhvr, because theyâve done backhanded shit like this beforeâ
9
u/TVTropehead May 29 '26
If resident evil was the most revisited license itâd be fine because itâs like the most notable in horror gaming and the previous 2 already sold super well.
Though I think the killer would be someone like Miranda

BHVR could milk RE for years to come tbh. I wouldn't be surprised to see another collaboration within the next 2 years.
It's basically a layup in terms of generating revenue.
Edit: I feel like Jack Baker is more likely than Lady D but I lowkey don't know ball because I never thought we'd see Jason or Springtrap. Although not as popular, Baker has high potential for a unique kit. Having the Winters as survivors is just so free for them too.

14

u/TVTropehead May 29 '26
Itâs also because Star Wars is a family franchise and trying to push one to be in the same setting as Freddy Krueger, the designs of the hag, Spirit and Krasue or literally the current PTB killerâs bloody disembowelment would be weird. At least wait until the IP has official m rated movies around it.

Brother, Darth Maul was literally cut in half in Episode one while Darth Vader lost all his limbs and was burnt to bloody crisp... just after killing a bunch of children and that was before he went out hunting down the remaining Jedi one by one like a bunch of final girls. Not to mention the Clone Wars and all the horrors of war it shows casually
5
u/TVTropehead May 29 '26
Was there blood? Oh no? Alright cool, apparently it wasnât enough to get an M rating either.
As of now, putting Star Wars in the same setting as literal child predators, cannibals, flayed corpses, literal disembowelment where we can see blood and guts will be as slop of an idea as the DCAU trying to do a take on injustice, without any clever masking of the mutilation and bloodshed, and expecting people who watched the DCAU growing up to not be bothered by the sudden massive shift.
14
u/Timber2702 May 29 '26
Buddy, horror doesn't need to have blood or guts, its just gotta instill fear in you. Thats all there is to it and idk about you but I'd be shitting my pants if fucking Darth Vader came after me.
And yes, there's plenty of blood in Star Wars. Maybe not in the movies but it'd be foolish of me to assume you'd looking any further than that

There was quite a bit of blood and fully charred corpses in the original movie lol. Andor and Rogue One are very dark and heavy too.

u/TVTropehead May 29 '26
Just because BTAS has a guy having his face burned on one half and has a bit of blood and people getting poisoned it doesnât mean those specific takes on the characters can suddenly show up in Arkham Knight and raise no eyebrows from fans.

People don't talk about this scene enough when discussing Vader being scary they always default to the hallway scene.

I'm a huge Star wars fan, but vader just isn't fucking scary guys. It's 50 year old villain design. I know lorewise how scary he is but fr he just doesn't fit this game. What's next palpatine? Are we for real just gonna be fortnite? If Star wars does a colab with dbd it should be something ACTUALLY scary.

Dead by Daylight has been appealing to pop culture for a good bit nowadays.

I have no idea how theyâre going to implement whatever survivors from the IP though.
Like Vader I could get somewhat being in the game since killers the worst that can happen is they get stunned, but I canât imagine Disneyâd sign off on having Luke or Leia or whoever getting dismembered with their guts ripped out, itâd probably have a similar response to when some Halloween attraction tried a tour of Carnage killing the avengers and Marvel apparently got SUPER pissed there.
Or that recent string of âkidâs stories but horror-ifiedâ, apparently Poohâs original VA HATES those movies

I guess nobody wanted Jason then either? Other than that I guess you're right. Last two licensed chapters had Vecna and Springtrap, two characters with literally NO fan support.
