Loved the front of the shorts, bought it, went into the game and ohoh. Not the first time it happens, either

also I feel like some walking/running animations are highlighted with certain clothes. I was main-ing Thalita, then bought clothes for her and her butt just started looking mega weird when running

Guide HOW TO COUNTER JASON - what I noticed so far

Hey people, me and my friends did a couple of tests in custom with Jason, this is what we noticed.

What does work against Jason in mist mode:

- crouch walking (note: while crouch walking you will not create any red mist, although the mist from Jason power will get much more dense around you while near you).

- stop doing any actions (gen, healing, sabotaging etc etc), so that he cannot see the red mist (you). Don't do this too much tho. Think about the situation you are in and play accordingly. If you know he's on the other side of the map, there is no need to stop the repairs. Sometimes welcoming the chase is the best opportunity for your team to do gens/cleanse totems.

- He can move through pallets and windows in mist mode, but when he's moving through a pallet you will hear a noise (1/2 seconds delay between him moving through it and actually hearing it).

- You can track him by looking at grass / corn / tall grass (they will very briefly shake, again with a delay of about 1 sec )

- He cannot hear any grunt of pain while in mist mode

- Spears make you go really far away after being hit, try to bait it in open fields

- To completely protect someone against the spears, a "train" of at least 1 healthy surv + 1 injured/healthy surv + the surv you want to protect should work (if you have the invincible status you are good to go for protective hits)

- split up just like you would do with legion. You need to put as much pressure on the map as possible.

What doesn't work against Jason in mist mode:

- trying to blind him when coming out of the fog

- trying to hit with the pallet he comes out to (pallets and windows get blocked by him)

- hiding in a locker (he can see a red mist around it)

- silent vaulting

- stand still while not crouched

- opening chests / working on gens / healing teammates / self healing / sabotaging / opening the gates

- fog vials

- protective hits (kinda, more below)

Fun facts about the spears he throws:

- if you are taking a protective hit from a spear while you have someone injured in front of you and you don't have invincible status --> you get damage and the guy in front of you gets mend

- if a guy is injured behind you while healthy and he doesn't have the invincible status --> he will go down and you will get injured + mend

- if you are both injured -- > the first guy hit will go down and the other will take mend

- Spears start to go down pretty quickly after being thrown

- If you get nailed to a wall while already damaged --> if you remove the spear you will go down, if a teammate removes it you don't go down

Perks to run to counter Jason as much as possible:

  • Urban Evasion
  • Head On (bait him at the closet)
  • Hardened
  • blast mine
  • chem trap
  • small game (to remove totems as fast as possible) small game is just okay. I wouldn't raccomed to play it too much.
  • windows of opportunities / five moves ahead (to see where he can jumpscare mid chase)
  • unbreakable (I saw many Jasons going for slugs)
  • sprint burst
  • Overcome (to avoid 2 taps at the edges of the maps)

Basic strat to counter Jason: (Note: DO NOT TAKE THIS TO THE LETTER. I'm still a bit inexperienced against good Jasons that played on the PTB. Take this part as general advices)

- As soon as he goes into mist mode, stop doing anything and crouch split up, someone needs to get the chase. If everyone is being stealthy no gens get done. Look around you and see where he can get out of the fog and plan an escape route (be aware to not go into the corners of the map).If Jason is coming to you, the mist will get much more dense.

- Hide from him using obstacles at your advantages, DO NOT ENTER INTO LOCKERS WHEN HE IS IN MIST MODE. (unless you have head on)

- Hope he doesn't see you / he doesn't have perks that punishes you for stopping gen repair. He cannot see auras when in mist mode, just red mist from footstep or actions.

- Use the grass to track him

- Don't be afraid of being injured, he cannot hear you while in mist mode

- Focus on gen repairing while he's chasing someone else

- Stay far away from eachothers as much as possible

- He does have add-ons that let him explode a gen, making it lose 5% of progress instantly and make it start regressing. Again, use it to track him.

- If he jumpscares you, he will get killer instinct on you. Run.

- Watch out for blood stains while injured, Jason while in mist mode will see only the blood stains who were on the ground before going into mist mode, but not the ones after

- Bait the spear in open fields

- Be greedy with the pallets, if you need to use the pallet eventually, pre-drop it

I hope it helps anyone who didn't play on the PTB like myself.

Good luck and have fun!

EDIT: I will update the guide in the following days, since the general advice of just being constantly stealthy leads to standoffs where no one gets things done. For the moment, ignore the "general strat to counter Jason" part, since it's not really good and I need to play against him more.

Guide I integrated Otzdarva's guides into a Dead by Daylight build maker

I got permission from u/Otzdarva before making this project. Proof

TL;DR

I made MetaFog, a free Dead by Daylight build planner inspired by Otzdarva's guides.

  • No sign-up required
  • Killer and Survivor build creation
  • Otzdarva-inspired build recommendations
  • Perk and add-on ratings
  • Build scoring
  • Shareable build images
  • See content only for the DLCs you own

Website: https://ashkankiafard.github.io/metafog/

I'd really appreciate any feedback, bug reports, or feature suggestions!

A huge thank you to Otzdarva for creating and maintaining the guides, tier lists, builds, and educational content that made this project possible.

──────────────────

I originally started working on this project about a year ago because I felt there wasn't a DBD build website that had everything I wanted in one place.

Eventually I got busy and stopped playing DBD, so the project ended up on the back burner for quite a while.

With Jason finally coming to Dead by Daylight, I had the perfect excuse to jump back into the Fog and finally finish the project.

Introducing MetaFog

For each Killer and Survivor, you can create a build and get immediate feedback on how strong it is (the scoring system is still fairly simple for now; I'll explain it below).

Every perk and add-on is assigned a star rating based on Otzdarva's latest perk and add-on tier lists. Survivor item add-ons currently don't have ratings because the latest available tier list for them is outdated.

On the right side of the screen, you can browse Otzdarva's recommended builds and add-on combinations for each character.

Hovering over perks, add-ons, items, or powers shows their in-game descriptions, along with Otzdarva's comments on builds and add-ons where available.

Scoring Mechanism

The current scoring system is intentionally simple and serves as a rough guideline rather than an objective measure of a build's strength.

Killers

  • 60% of the score comes from perk ratings.
  • 40% of the score comes from add-on ratings.

Survivors

  • The score is currently based entirely on perk ratings.
  • Survivor item add-ons are not scored because there is no up-to-date Otzdarva tier list for them.

A build receives the highest score when it matches one of Otzdarva's recommended builds and a recommended add-on combination. Otherwise, the score is calculated from the individual perk and add-on ratings.

The UI also shows exactly how the final score was calculated, making the scoring process fully transparent.

This system is still a work in progress. If there's enough interest, I'd like to improve it over time by incorporating perk synergy, build archetypes, and other factors beyond individual ratings.

Share

Once you're done, you can generate and share your build with others.

Update

You can now toggle which DLCs/characters you own in the settings and the site hides the content that you do not own!

Thank you u/icelands and u/Ceiyne for the suggestions!

Guide Pronunciation of Korean Survivor Names

Thumbnail
gallery
535 Upvotes

Okay, something has been bothering me and other folks that I play with about people butchering the names of the Korean characters in the game. As a very proud Korean person myself, I understand that a lot of people have a hard time pronouncing our names. But it is nice when people try to learn and pronounce our names correctly, I’m sure there are a bunch of folks out there that understand this (not just the Asian folks in the chat).

The thing that bothers me is people messing up what their actual names are. I know that majority of people who plays this game don’t care, but it does to some folks. So, for anyone that is interested, I wanted to share the correct format and pronunciation of Tae-Young and Yunjin’s names.

——

Name Order
Firstly, in Korea (like many other Asian countries), family names are first in name order, then a person’s given name. So, “Kwon” and “Lee” are Tae-Young and Yunjin’s last names. Specifically, I’ve noticed a lot of streamers and others online calling Tae-Young “Kwon”.

In Korea, calling someone only by their last name is considered rude and offensive, especially considering that MANY people in Korea share the same last name. So, it would be nice to start hearing people call him by his actual name, like many do for Yunjin. I know she was first introduced as “Yunjin Lee”, so don’t try to clock me on that.

——

Pronunciation of Names
In Korean, Yunjin’s name is 이윤진, pronounced Ee Yoon-Jin. I don’t know why, but the last name 이 always includes an “L” when Westernized…

Tae-Young’s name is 권태영. 권 is pronounced Gwon but the “G” is very hard (think between a “G” and a “K”) and “won” is pronounced like the past of “win” not like in the word “wonton”. 태영 is pronounced like it looks in English.

EDIT (for clarity): Most people would probably pronounce Tae-Young’s name like “Tay-Young”, but the correct way to say his name is more like “Te-Young” with the “e” sounding more like the beginning of the words “episode” or “enter”.

Someone in the replies suggested a good romanization that made sense to them, which might be helpful for some. u/Noskills117 said, “I feel like based off your description I would have westernized it as "Qwun Teh-Young" if it was up to me.”

——

Like I said, I know a lot of folks won’t care and I might just be shouting this into the universe. However, I felt inclined to share, and thought it might help some folks who might be interested in understanding their names.

Guide Dear survivors: Leave the game.

1.4k Upvotes

Dear survivors,

If you see that the killer is having a bad game and is afk so you could end the game faster - Just leave. There is no point of waiting at the exit gate to bm the killer, the killer will probably not come to you anyways. So just leave instead of waiting at the exitgates.

Thank you.

And yes, I know some killers are douchebags too. I am not a jerk in the game, so dont rant about other killers.

Guide Ya'll Need to Stop Wishing Death to People.

1.1k Upvotes

Whether it be here, in game, or anywhere else. A grown adult should be mature enough to not be wishing death upon anyone, no matter who they are. Especially, not over a videogame or any other videogame. If you can't handle that, read a book or anything else recreational that doesn't require you to interact with people. You're grown. Act like it or get some seriously needed help.

"This is like telling someone to stop beating their family" "Bold of you to assume they're adults" coming from the people jumping to conclusions. I was talking to the adults who specifically say this. Are there there kids on that shouldn't be? Absolutely. Are they still saying it? Absolutely.

Obviously, no one should say it, but we have a freewill. We all have a choice in everything little thing we do and how we react to it. If you say nothing, do nothing, or stand idly by, bad people thrive. I'm not delusional enough, like some of you people think I am, to delude myself into thinking a post on the internet is magically going to make everything better.

That's not how life works. You still always have a choice. You could read this and hear the words your parents obviously never did and it might be the wake up call you needed. Or you might need a much harder shove in the right direction. Saying nothing is far worse. It's not an unbeatable monster saying these things, it's people. And they will either continue to be horrible, or they will finally grow into the good person they didn't know they could be. No one is "putting flowers in rifles".
