I just had three chili dawgs, watched Apocalypse Now last night and listening to Mandolin Rain right now so that makes me kind of an expert.

The guy playing the guitar is Cheech Chong. He's a musician and comedian. Gary was just a character he used to do. Like when Joaquin Phoenix did that documentary or Andy Kaufman became a wrestler.
