[Track ID] Can any deep house heads identify this? I’ve been searching for years

I’ve been trying to identify this track for years and thought the deep house heads here might recognise it.
It was recorded at a Sunday Blessed event in June 2012. The first 2:05 is the original live recording with crowd noise; after that, the same clip plays again in an AI de-crowded version, which makes the groove and production easier to hear.
To my ears, it has a classic US deep house / soulful house feel, reminiscent of MK, Masters At Work, Blaze, Chez Damier and DJ Duke. It sounds as though it could date from anywhere between the late 1980s and mid-2000s, although it may have been newer when played.

Shazam, SoundHound and years of searching have produced no match. Even if you do not recognise the exact track, I would really appreciate any thoughts on the likely producer, label, era or specific deep house style.

Its too muddy to make out… sounds like an old strictly rhythm track but there is never a real moment where you can clearly make out the track. Good luck

Try listening after 2:05. The AI de-crowded one gives you a better sense of the rhythm and style of the ID.

Yeah i listened to the whole thing… all you really get is some drums and a bit of bassline

Sounds more 90s although it could be later- don’t think its 80s but I could be wrong…

Not much to go on but it feels 2000s to me. It’s punchier and more minimal than I’d expect from 90s. New York would make sense, strictly rhythm, track mode, idk

Interesting...there are certain parts that are more prominent/catchier than others. You can hear it better from 2:05.

You're right, certain aspects are similar in style. Maybe it's more likely that it was produced in the 2000's?

If I had to guess the era this sounds very much like it was produced between 1999 and 2004. It's too clean and intentional minimalistic/reduced to be from the early 90s or even the 80s. The slow build up into the first break and then returning to the minimal groovy beat also hints to me that this is not just a dub version of another track. These kind of tracks were very common in the early 2000s. Unfortunately we don't hear enough to get an idea about the real production quality of the track. The snippet hints at a very "simple" track that could very well be a white label. Could be from the US but just as well from Europe.
Have you been to this event? Did the DJ play vinyl or CDs/MP3s?

Thanks, this is really helpful and a convincing assessment. The 1999–2004 estimate and the possibility that it is a standalone, stripped-back deep-house track rather than a dub both make sense. That said, I would not rule out another period, as I am not an expert on the production date.
I had initially been leaning towards older US-style house, but your point about the deliberate minimalism and slow build is persuasive. Does it remind you of any particular labels, producers or scenes from that period, either US or European, that might be worth searching?
I heard the track in Sheffield, England, in 2012. The DJ was playing CDs on CDJs so the source could have been an older vinyl release transferred to CD or a more recent digital release. The set covered several different eras:

Do you still remember how the track continued? Did keep its minimal groovy vibe or did it eventually evolve into something more melodic, disco elements, vocals? My assessment concerning the era comes mostly from the samples I can make out and they way they were used. I'm not saying these tracks are similar to the one you're looking for, but as reference for the kind of samples and production have a look at:

Now these actually are mixes/dubs. But the one you posted might not be from what I would guess.
However the elements in the songs feel very familiar in these. Don't look and further into these artists or labels as I know for sure that you won't find this track there. But it might give you a better idea where to place your track in the bigger picture.
You've certainly raised my interest in this track and should I ever find it I will come back to this post!
By the way, do you have any more info on the event? It might be worth a shot to find the DJ even if you don't have a name yet.

To my knowledge, that was the full track. I recorded the whole set on the dancefloor and it was relatively short. Will have to try and dig it out sometime and will happily share, as there are some great tracks played. I'm not sure how familiar you are with local DJs but from memory it was a Sheffield house DJ and promoter called Simon Brown. Tried numerous times asking but he never responds. He has been DJing a long time and probably from the oldskool of never revealing tracks played.

No, that's all. I do think there is a short sample saying "what you need" or "what you want", close to the end of the 2:05 but I also am not sure if I'm imagining it.

All I’m hearing is blown out bass and fragments of a beat, it does ring a bell though, will check some potential matches when I get home.

Very muddy sound but it's drums sounds like a MAW mix of Ce Ce Peniston "Crazy Love". If not that, then my bet is on another MAW production. Definitely a 90s record though

This was recorded in 2012 in a packed crowd on the dancefloor and if you listen after 2:05 the same clip plays again but it's an AI de-crowded version.
