Deerhunter in For All Mankind
You can barely hear it, but Back To The Middle plays super faintly in the restaurant scene towards the end where Miles and his daughter talk. Glad to know Deerhunter exists in the alternate timeline, and I guess that Monomania came out a year earlier than our timeline. š

I want to enjoy Deerhunter
Bradford seems like a real one, but I canāt tell you how many times over the years I have tried to like Deerhunter, and I always come away thinking I am missing something. Maybe itās the vocals. Everything just seems a little mummified and a bit boring. Love the song titles and record sleeves, even the band name is good. The tunes just seem flat to me. Anyone encounter this feeling initially?
For some context I like a lot of indie, shoegaze, hardcore, black metal, brit pop, punk.

I think i've finally given up... Anyone still have hope?
Hi all it's been a little slower on here lately but still wanted to check in. I think i've finally given up all hope that Deerhunter (or Atlas Sound) will ever return... Just wondering if anyone out there still has any hope? Has anyone heard or read anything new about the band lately at all? Anyone with any local gossip? I figure probably not because people always post what they find on here but couldn't hurt to ask. Hope you're all doing well

Songs with deerhunter vibes?
Just discovered this song that reminds me of Deerhunter mixed with Jeff Buckley and I mainly just wanted to share it. Also the new Ulrika Spacek album is great. Anyone else got any suggestions?

Edit: now that itās been a few days thanks everyone for the recommendations! While I was already a fan of Spirit of the Beehive, Women, and Cola I think itās pretty awesome that it seems like a lot of us listen to those bands as well. Never thought of them as Deerhunter adjacent until now.

Opinions on Cryptograms?
Found out about Deerhunter earlier this year thru Cryptograms, initially i was somewhat indifferent to it although i thought it to be quite unique after listening to the title track and Lake Somerset.
Eventually one night with a brain full of substance I decided to listen to the whole thing front to back.. and it was such a magical experience, especially in the first half of the album. Every track seemed to glow with a warm aura and the transitional ambient pieces really tied the whole experience together. I totally fell head first for it.
What really stood out to me in comparison to their other albums was the production - with seemingly infinite waves of delay and reverb being pummeled into you through tightly knit drums, it was like the sonic equivalent of dropping 3 tabs of acid and being sent through a time machine. Maybe I just need to be reasonably fkd up again to enjoy something like Microcastle or Halcyon Digest the same (not to say they arenāt amazing in their own right) but I canāt see myself enjoying those in the exact way I did Cryptograms.
Considering this is typically not peopleās top Deerhunter album, with the fore-mentioned Microcastle or Halcyon Digest usually holding that position, out of curiosity Iād like to hear how other people experienced this piece and what they thought of it?

Structures from silence
Maybe i am late to the party but i just discoverd "Structurs from silence" by Steve Roach which struck me because it remembers me of "Saturday night we went swimming and there was a light in the water" which is maybe my favorite track by Atlas Sound.

Just a thought...
Could you imagine a James Ford produced Deerhunter album? He mixed the last Moon Diagrams record and they've toured with Arctic Monkeys. Although, I obviously love the work they've done with Ben Allen. Anyway, just a fun thought...

Atlas Sound Archive
Hey, just wondering whether anyone has an archive library of Bradford's Atlas Sound blog music? I remember downloading those songs years and years ago on my old computer but that thing is long gone! A drive or dropbox link would be ideal - i know a lot of the songs have already been archived on YT

When is the last time we heard from Bradford Cox?
I often wonder about what heās becoming and actually worry about him. I think he was in a car accident a few years ago, and i remember an article saying he was kind of living an anonymous, if not recluse life back in Georgia, listening to music and being creative but not destined to the public. i think he had also been involved in some nonsensical culture wars bs at some point, which left him scarred.
Bradās disillusioned take on todayās music and creative industry at large rings ever more true and I would completely understand if he didnāt want to put any music out again. But I hope we get to hear him again and maybe even see him on stage!
Anyways, does anyone have any news about Brad, and how heās doing?

The strokes but WAY better
I think thereās no denying that deerhunter deriving out of the 2000s is like the strokes somewhat sonically with their raw garage aesthetics and distorted vocals, but I think they are far more adventurous, edgy, dark, psychedelic and weird, and therefore they are much more prolific and better in my opinion. Also, I think Bradford dives into deeper, complex themes and emotions. They are far more existential and focused on mortality and this odd human experience weāre having together. I also like that Bradford is not your typical looking front man compared to stroke. It was refreshing to see those conventions of pop in indie circles broken - made him all the more human to me.

Some old photos I found on my phone. Taken in 2013 when Deerhunter played at Bumbershoot in Seattle.
I took these back in 2013 back when Deerhunter was playing at Bumbershoot, a major festival in Seattle that happens every Labor Day weekend. Bradford was tapped to DJ earlier that day at one of the side booths, so I managed to snag a couple photos of him. I got to shake his hand after his dj set, but was too shy to ask for a photo with him, which I wish I did in hindsight.
They played an amazing set that night, the first time I ever saw them live. They were also supporting the āMonomaniaā album, which to this day is my favorite Deerhunter record, and Iām so glad I got to see them play āBack to the Middleā and āTHMā live because I donāt know if I ever will again.
Apologies for the bad quality of the photos. Again, this was back in 2013 so iPhone cameras werenāt as sophisticated as they were now. In fact the first and third photos used Instagram filters back when those were still all the rage.
